Thank you. Walked by a red 71 with side pipes everyday on my way to school since kindergarten. Thought it was the coolest car ever. Dad is a car guy so started a savings account and when I was 12, I'd saved up enough to buy it from the usual kid jobs. Found it in a deals on wheels in Whittier, CA. Pops and I rented a Chevy Lumina, drove down, hopped in it and drove it back. I drove through Utah, Idaho, and most of Montana while dad slept. Had been driving grain trucks on the farm by then so it's original manual was no biggie haha. Still have the deals on wheels I got it from and VHS Roberto Chavez sent me of the car.

Your paying it forward. I hope the scene is around when my grandkids are old enough to play.

I'll post a couple pics of my "memorobilia" of the car tomoro from the computer at work. Files are too big from my phone and I'm not a technology guy whatsoever.

This photo was taken at BCA national meet in 2009, I am much better looking in 2017  and so is Dianne! :D We had just been awarded the 'Spirit of Buick' award for our 1932 Buick.

Steve and John, you two are right. It's mostly a group of "old guys", but..... I am having the BLAST of my life!!! I look at these pictures and think, "I sure do wish these guys were my neighbors." We'd have a blast!
PS, How many of you "old guys" are going to BG? And young guys, sorry. Steve and my kids will be there. Sure hope to meet up with you all. Last year I had a blast at one of the hotels. I don't remember, problem???, which one?

It was my Mom's. She sold it.

Seriously though. That show was a little before my time.
I earned the nickname Danny Boy, because of the striking resemblance, in my younger years.

They are pretty darn beefy jacks. They have a built in ladder so you can reach the top and spin the locking collar down. The left and right main gear tripod jacks are rated for 80 tons. Its such a huge difference compared to the Cessna jets I was working on just a few months ago. Those jacks you could pick up and carry to the plane and the plane itself only weighed about 6,000lbs.

I am glad we didn't end up doing this... we jacked the plane outside and did gear swings. Too much wind or some poorly aimed jetblast and things would get hairy. XnLYu0B_d.jpg

    Ouch!

    "SHEET METAL!!!"

I have jacked my share of jets, and your absolutely correct.

Place them, set them, beat the snot out of the ground pads with wheel chocks, while sliding a card under to see it all three pads are set, and trying to raise evenly (and lowering is just as much fun). And the whole time you hope and pray, nothing causes them to fall. And my friends are amazed at how fast I can get my car "in the hanger and on jacks" when it's needed. :D fun memories!

Here's the original ad for the car (ended up paying $3600 for it) , a pic of me and the car at it's first show, the VHS tape, and a Mustang&Fords magazine where it made it into the Reader's Rides section when I was 14, which seemed like such a big deal then. Funny remembering having a guy send pics or a video of a car through the mail back then if you were interested. I remember sending pics back to guys of their cars after we inspected and rejected them haha..... old1.png old.png old2.png .

Just when you think all the interesting topics have been done this comes up. I was preparing myself for some funny stuff and wasn't disappointed.
