Help celebrate the software upgrade by participating in my giveaway.

I am giving away five ¼ scale Buick 350 valve covers, that I machined out of 6061 aluminum. Members from other countries are eligible to win. I’ll even pay the shipping.

To enter, post a Buick related picture, before 5:00pm CST on 5/2/17. Picture must be something that hasn’t been posted yet. I’ve spent more time than I care to admit looking at pictures of Buicks on the internet, and If I recognize the picture, I won’t submit your entry. One entry per person. The picture can be anything Buick related. Hopefully we aren’t looking at anything newer than 1987, but that’s not a requirement.

To select the five winners I will use a random number generator from https://www.random.org/lists/

I will make a list that contains the post number in this thread and their username. That list will then be pasted into the text box at the link, and I will push the Randomize button one time. The first five names are the winners. The results will be posted at the end of the contest.

Why am I doing this? I spend a lot of time here, and I’ve met some really great people because of this site. A few of them I would call friends, even though we’ve only met once or twice. There is one member here that is excluded from winning, Smokey15. You’d understand why if you’ve ever read anything he’s posted.... Ha, just kidding. He is one of the first V8Buick members that I met, and after about two minutes talking to him I felt like I was with an old friend. He really is a shirt off the back kind of guy. He’s also got some cool memorabilia in his garage and I thought this valve cover would look pretty cool in there. So he has #1 of 6. He was sworn to secrecy, as we waited for the site upgrade.

It’s been 20 years since I made something for myself for fun. Everything that I make is to pay the bills, and it can become tiresome after a while. Recently I decided that I would make a pair of billet 350 valve covers for the SBB that I’m working on.

There were only two problems that I needed to worry about for this project.

    1. I don’t have my heads. They are in Michigan with my buddy that works for VED. They are getting a valve job and mild porting. I don’t have any way to verify the dimensions that I took off of a 1971 stamped steel valve cover, and I only have one SBB. I’m a little embarrassed by that, so don’t tell anyone

    2. I don’t currently have any aluminum in the shop to make a full size pair, and I wouldn’t make them right now if I did. See #1. Aluminum is only a day or two away with a simple phone call, so I’ll wait to get my heads back, before I start carving on a $60 block of aluminum. I’ll probably change the design too. Let’s hear some suggestions.

TLDR. Post a cool Buick related pic for a chance to win a piece of shiny aluminum.

Those are slick Mike!! One would look great on my desk at work, so im in! Only problem is since the upgrade I've had rotten luck uploading pics. Get an error saying they're too large even though I always uploaded them from my phone before. Guess I'll have to figure it out....

    Thanks Shawn,
I use Imgur to host my pics. I've never tried it from my phone. I always transfer them to my PC and then upload.

Very cool offer, Mike! I'll try to post my first pic on the new forum, don't think I've put this one up before, believe it dates almost back to when I got my 68 back in '01.

Cool 1/4 scale valve covers, can't wait to see the rest of the 1/4 scale engine!!(I would insert the brow guy here but we no longer have that option)

Not a chance on the rest of it. I've got some full size parts to make.

Buick related. It could be a picture of a rusty old wheel, and that would be good enough for an entry.
    lets see those project pics.
