Here's some pics of some of the furniture and metal art I make out of old car/truck/snowmobile/motorcycle parts. I made the table out of ring and pinions from Chevy trucks for a couple that are friends of mine. The whole thing weighs about 250 lbs., I had to make the top half then the bottom and then put them together and weld the halves. The cowboy is all snowmobile parts, and the bench I made for my best friend (that's him in the picture when I delivered it) from a pair of 1962 and 1982 tailgates and some disc brakes. If anybody else is into doing this kind of stuff, feel free to share your ideas. I always like seeing other peoples projects for inspiration :) IMG_20150829_100806_546.jpg IMG_20170225_090230_813.jpg IMG_20151230_212716_270.jpg IMG_20160101_191542_747-1.jpg

On the table they are pinion gears, on the bench they're front hubs/discs off a box van and some 1 ton discs. I'm making a coat rack out of two axles, some gears, and using pushrods out of a 390 Ford for the hangers right now for my other friend's daughter. I'll put pics of that up when I'm done.

Thank you. I like doing the small projects like my gear cowboy better than the big stuff. I just end up with a bunch of extra parts from the Chevy/Caddy dealership I run the shop at. I've got an idea for a clock in my head using ohc timing gears, that'll probably be next after the coat rack.....It's good therapy and reuses stuff that'd otherwise go in the scrap pile. I had a guy try to commission me to build him an entertainment center after he saw the table I made. His idea was cool, but after I told him we might be waiting for a couple years for me to scrounge the right parts or if he wanted to buy new it'd cost him close to $6,000, that plan kind of went away.....We added up that to make the table out of new factory parts from the dealer would be close to $2500. I've got $0 and about 8 hours into it, but took a year and a half to gather them.

I do a little metalworking when I get the time.
First is a rose and vase I made out of copper about 4 years ago for my wife for xmas; second is a pig I made out of an empty propane tank. It took my brainless little Maltese dogs awhile to quit barking at the pig.

That rose is beautiful, and the pig is a great idea......my shih tzu would probably run to the other side of the yard if he saw that and never go back :)

Thanks, Mark! Much appreciated. I took 3 years of welding in high school and then got a degree in metal fab after. I don't use any of that at my job, so this is a good way to help keep the wheels greased.....

Very nice stuff guys! I used to put on the car show in my home town and I got into building home made trophies. That turned into building some light furniture type stuff. I'll try to dig up some pictures of some of it.
