Thanks guys for all the info and leads. Issue was with an established member who actually made the last post in my thread before I deleted it to limit the drama above and beyond my original question!

I can remember the rivalry back in the day between small block and big block lovers Jim, it was almost as bad as the Chevy Ford rivalry!

While I rarely admit to this, I have always had a soft spot for the 67 369/427 Impala coupes... If someone gave me a sweet deal on a black 4 speed with a red interior, I would love to own it.

I have a buddy who likes all cars.. calls himself "non-denominational" When it comes to the automotive world.

And I did drive a very nice 80 z-28 in high school.. it was my winter beater, but in fact was a really nice rust free 40K mile car, I bought from the original owner, who was a middle aged lady.
A baby blue head turner that cops loved to give tickets to, for speeds I drive today in my Suburban, and they don't even notice. Of course the anemic 350 only stayed untouched for about 6 months, before the carb/intake/cam/headers true dual exhaust swap that was popular back in the day, was performed. The glasspacks on that thing were sweet..

Now before anyone starts foaming at the mouth, my summer car was a very slick 70 GS convert clone that I built when I was 17/18. All stock 69 430 with the TH 350 and 3.23 10 bolt from a 70 GS 350 parts car, that I also stole all the GS items, the bucket seat/console interior and other trinkets from.. One of those $400 parts cars that used to be in the Sunday paper, back in the day.

Black lacquer with red GSX stripes and spoilers, and a blood red interior. Total head turner, and was quite a rush for a 19 year old kid to go cruising it. It hooked me into the hobby, and introduced me to the folks I know today still, in the Buick world.

I built it all, my first paint job and bodywork deal.. turned out very nice, but did not last.. too much filler.. had I replaced the panels, instead of filling them all, I probably would still have the car today. Was going to make a drag car out of it after the frame broke (rust) so I cut the rusty section off and narrowed it for 14/32's.. but then got sidetracked in life, and never finished it, sat outside for years next to my house, and I finally had to junk it after the city got after me.

I still have 90% of the parts.. so it's gone, but not totally.

And ya, the spark plugs sucked to change on the Z-28, headers or manifolds..

My high school hot rod was a 67 Impala 396 4sp. that I ended up putting a 427 into it.
I have a complete 1967 396 out of a Impala sitting in storage.

I think most of us own or have owned other makes of muscle. To the header question I had the issue once and was solved simply by changing one wire to a 90 degree boot.

I believe the OP issue was boot removal then serious clearance issue for plug removal with headers.

We are guilty too...but it feels good to finally come out of the closet!! I feel much better now. Unfortunately I can't help with the original question since we've never had a set of headers on a Chevrolet.

Oh don't get me started with the Pontiac confessions too...oh and the British cars as well or else I might be banned from the board and be forced to be a FB idiot. I'm not sure I can handle that much guilt and embarrassment in one day.

My first car was a GTO (still have it), my parents brought me home from the hospital after my birth in a GTO (still have it), and of course added more as well. This really is a sickness isn't it?

I am non denominational when it comes to cars as Jim put it. I prefer GM cars but I have owned Ford's, Pontiac, Toyota, Chrysler, and some others. I want an air cooled VW, Porsche, MG, AMC, Old Mini Cooper, and a bunch of others.

Hey, you guys think you have problems!
I actually love old 50s-60s Mercedes-Benz and have owned and wrecked a number of them, and am really toying with the idea of buying a 59 T-Bird!
Not to mention I flog a Toyota (gasp) as a daily driver!
But my first love will always be a Buick....
