Would like to take the time to give a shout out to ethan. He painted my 67 gs ragtop for me. Its more involved than that tho. He took the time to go out of his way a few times and came to my house and gave me professional advice on the body work that i was performing myself. Well after months of prep and hard work he sprayed a very slick shadow turquoise for me! Pics to come
That's a beautiful color. I was considering painting my car that color but chickened out. Can't wait to see the pics!
Nice color combo, here's one of my ex cars, also owned by a couple of other members. Got lots of compliments on the color.
Wish Ethan lived close by me. I have talked to a few body shop guys around here and no one will give me a price or tips or anything, unless I walk in and plop down like $10,000 or so. I have cut the rust out (what little their was) made new patch panels, using a couple banged up fenders (a little trick a guy told me about many years ago), have them all tach welded in place. Looks like Ethan did a great job on Chris's car congrats! Keith
KUDOS TO YOU ETHAN!!! You may not realize how helpful you really were in this situation given that you do this sort of thing all the time. But I can totally relate to Chris' sentiment. I'm a pretty handy guy. I know the basics of body work and am good and researching and learning. But having someone who legitimately knows what theyre doing for this kind of thing is invaluable. I had the same deal, welded in new panels, went as far as I thouth I needed to, and then a friend of mine who paints cars for a living came over and showed me what was good, what was not, and what I needed to do. He helped/supervised the paint process and I wouldve probably been in deep do-do without him. So good on ya Ethan for helping a guy out like this, it makes a bigger difference than you may even know.
Ethan would probably say he didn't do much of anything. He's a humble guy from a solid family who just enjoys helping others.
All I did is lay paint, since my career change I don't get to paint nowhere as much as I did, so an opportunity to squirt some color on a hotrod is a good thing. Chris done the body and prep work, and did an excellent job for someone that doesn't do it regularly. The color choice was great and will be something different.
Thanks for all the positive comments guys! I Will get more pics loaded when i get the trim and bumpers back on
Car looks GREAT, especially for your first real body project. As you've probably heard, a good paint job is only as good as the prep job before. I love the Ridler 645 wheels, too. Run them on my pickup in the warmer months .
Heres a little progress from friday. Got the top well and belt line trims on. Note that this car didnt have belt trim originally. This is ames pontiac trim. I like the way the color changes from sunlight vs fluorscent light
