Reading this.....well.....my impression is that I should feel bad somehow.

I do not feel bad though, for pointing out the unpopularity of interupting track time. Pretty simple really.

Your not going to.......great....doesn't seem to be very stressfull to say that.

Never said not to bring your car.....although I wonder why you need something special to do so.

People sometimes focus on what they want.....so I tried to point out:

Be mindful there are a hundred and twenty other participants who also do this for fun.

And their entire year might not be centered on seeing any particular car, race any other particular car.

I look forward to seeing you trounce on a Buick. :TU:

    Track Time

Brian for the LAST time NO lost time to PS racers (which I am one) has ever been proposed to my knowledge.

I need no special reason to bring the car per say, but as the car is 11 hrs. from my house and it would only rate as a slow Hemi in any other context, a good reason to bring it out is needed for me to go through the hassle and risk to the all original drive train.

I have a car I am working on for this years race to certify, so I have no other reason to bring the Hemi other than the match up.

Brian I am calling "UNCLE". You have brought the focus on me when it should only be on the shoot out/cars. The personalities behind the cars should matter little or none. Only someone who is arrogant or insecure would care more about their position than the cars context to our hobby/history. Ownership of a car should not carry status or be expected to hold status. I owned these cars before it was cool or valuable.

As to: "people focus on what they want". I am not sure how many times I must say that I DO NOT WANT ANYTHING, or care if it happens at all. I need no accolades to make me complete, coming home to my family every night is all the fulfillment I need in this life. I have a car that has been offered for use, no more no less. As far as I can tell we mostly have been talking about what you want, not what myself or what others might want. Brian take your own advise and be mindful that there are 120 other participants and only a handful have posted their thoughts. I am very mindful and am 100% flexable on the issue which seems very debatable in your case.

What I do want is; I am going to take a vacation away from this Vortex that keeps sucking me back in.

I will let better people than me sort this out to wether it happens or not. And in the vane of not taking my ball home like a pre-sophmoric child, I will leave an open offer for the use of my car if it is decided that this race will run at Stanton.

Talk to you in March everyone at the end of my self imposed vacation. :)

All this talk about track time.......what happens if 160 cars show up to race? Maybe threefidee showing up with his Firebird will cut into someone's track time. As long as the pure pure pure stock cars are just run as part of the normal program, but paired up for the shoot-outs, whats the big deal? I would really enjoy it.

    Stage 1 vs. Hemi shootout

This thread is kinda cold, but I just wanted to chime in...

Reasons the 70' Hemi Cuda should not race a 70' GSX:
    1) By the time the technicians figure out how to keep the Hemi running at idle, Its nighttime and the track closes.
    2) E body structural design is so poor that the rear of the car will tear off with the axle, upon launch.
3)Mopar wiring is so bad that the mopar will likely catch fire before the end of the quarter
    4) The 426 Hemi is so heavy that the mopar wont steer well and will crash into the wall before the end of the quarter
    5) mopars rust so bad that the hemi will likely fall out of the car before the end of the quarter
    6) Hemi cars never get a chance to race because they keep getting sold on ebay every two hours for an extra $25,000

The part of the argument I am always amazed by is that the Buicks Stage 1's were Hydraulic cammed (mild at that), single rochester carburated sitting on top of an unenhanced steel manifold. Lower compressioned than their nemisis's multi carburated , aluminum manifold, solid lifter high lift cammed, built for racing counterparts. The stage 1 was so mild it was regulary ordered with factory airconditioning. Could you imagine if the Stage 2 package was factory installed which would put it on a more level playing field with the.
    L88's, LS6's, Zl1, Hemi's, 427 Fords Don't ya think.

But the argument is the fastest stock

better idea for a new class

How about this? You must run the stock displacement of your casting number, must be an engine that was actually offered in that body, no power adders, cast iron heads or stock aluminum, no fiberglass or lexan, and run a 10 inch tire. Anything else goes! That should bring the builder back into it and eleminate the high bucks aftermarket farce. In my opinion, this is what most of us try to acheive with our cars. I am talking about bragging rights here as anyone can take a Vega and install a Brodix equipped big block in it, fill it full of custom parts and spray the fire out of it and run 10's. That, my freinds, is NOT a muscle car in my opinion. Taking stock components and making them work better than your opponent is by far the most satisfying part of racing to a lot of us. Anyone with money can buy speed thru the aftermarket, but it takes a real car guy to keep his block and crank stock and go out there and run with the big dogs. :3gears:

Just to let you know.......'70 and '71 Hemi's have a hydraulic camshaft....but, you're right.......this is a David and Goliath shootout.....

Street Hemi's were mild enough to have A/C....but Chrysler felt there wasn't enough room to mount the compressor since there was an extra carburater sitting where it would normally go :TU:
