    Hi all,

I am considering upgrading my heads to Stage 1 heads. What would be a reasonable price for a 1970 core and what will it cost to build out? What would be a reasonable price for ready to install 1970 Stage 1 Heads? Do the prices vary if heads are from different year?

1786 cores usually go for $75 to $150, I price mine at $100. The cost to convert to big valves and everything that goes along with it is $700+ the hp gain on a mild street engine is maybe 10hp,..ie not worth it. Used stage 1 head cores I value at $350 to 500, fresh heads ready to run are 800+ and yes 70 or earlier heads usually demand slightly more $ as the compression ratio will be ever so slightly higher.

My suggestion is to forget the valve upgrade and spend that money on porting what you have the gain per Dollar will be much better. Or for go all that and buy TA heads, pick up a solid 50+hp out of the box and be light years ahead
