Running errands with the wifes ride this afternoon, I spy a 67 GS coming outta Cantaffords (our name for the local Hannafords Supermarket.) I pull over , but I can't see which way he went, so I wheel it around and find him leaving D&Ds heading for the plaza so I fall in behind him and follow him into the parking lot. He steps out and I ask him if he's got a minute. Find out he is from Mass on vacation at the local campground, We do the Buick Guy BS, and part ways. He goes into the Dollar Store, me back to my ride. Occurs to me I made no mention of v8buick.com, so I jot down the web addy and my moniker and head inside to track him down again. I mention to him that I'm probably looking pretty stalkerish, and apologize. He saud he was having trouble finding parts, I tell em to check out the website , as it's invaluable to the Buick community. Did my part to add to our group.....Jim/Rott Plate blacked out for privacy-not my ride.....
WTG! I saw a GS on a trailer behind a u haul rolling through my town and followed it miles out of town. Turned out the guy had just bought a place and was moving from Indiana. He's not really a car guy just likes the car. Not on the internet either. He's called a few times with questions I was able to help him out with.
Way off the topic, but Hannaford's opened a store in Franklin, MA. I have a friend who is a "super shopper" - he is to grocery stores what Jason is to buying and selling cars and parts. About a year ago Hannaford's had a two-for-one sale on shrimp by the bagged pound - buy one for $15.98, get one free. My friend had seen the exact same product in the same store a week earlier for $7.95 per pound.
We call it Cantaffords because they raise the price of grillable goods when the local campground and statepark open for camping. Locals like me, buy thier meats elswhere, usually MarketBasket/Demoulas.......Jim/Rott
STALKER UPDATE: Now that my 462 powered 70 Skylark is on the road, I am a more effective Buick Stalker. Both the work van and wifeys Escape were having a tuff time chasin down musclecars. Today was headin south locally when what looked like a 68 Impala went by going north, then a 67 Goat. Then I see it , a White 66 GS . I figure if all the cool guys are going north, I better spin it round. I finally catch up and we are north of town on one of the local cruisin roads . He gets into the throttle and walks away from the p/u between us. I hit the loud pedal and roar around the p/u who is turning off into a driveway/dirt road. We pull over and shake hands and do the carguy thing. He is a member or visitor here and lives locally. Super nice guy out with his son blowin back thier hair on a beautiful day. And in a super nice 66 GS. Doing my part, one Buick at a time.....Jim/Rott
Yer doin it all wrong, Jay. Yer sposed to leave 'im in a cloud of tire smoke. Sheesh, they're gonna think we're a bunch a sissies.
Nah, I play nice, invite em to streetnight and let the torque talk. Good job GS66, adding to the ranks... Looks a lot like the 67 GS I chased down . Ya guttem hooked if he's going to the Nats!
