My 71GS developed a starting issue today. I’ve never had any issues but it left me at the car wash today. It was pretty much stone flat. I thought it was due to a loose negative battery connection . I tightened up the connection got a boost and a way it went. Not trusting it I took it home, turned it off and again it was dead. The battery showing 13 V so I’m a little puzzled.

Define "dead". Does the starter make any noise at all? Does it even click? Or does it just crank slow like its got a dead battery?

The battery has 13 V at right now but I’m not getting any interior lights or – warning lights. The starter won’t even click. But when I boosted it it started fine. When I get home later today I’m going to check for corrosion on the battery posts because when I jumped at the booster cables went directly on the battery clamps

    Sounds like a plan!

Definitely something at the battery or very close if clamping on a jumper cable is a temp fix. Also check your grounds.

Gotta be a connection at one or both of the battery cables. Did you say the battery reads 13 volts? Was this with both cables connected or with one cable disconnected?
