What is the factory tire and height that came with my 14 inch ralley wheels? I have a 70 GS. Is it a 215 70 14 or something slightly different? Thanks.
The Basics is G78-14 or G70-14. Goodyear or Firestone. Trying to figure out tires sizes on an 70 is complicated, they list so many options. Do you have the build sheet with tire code on it? I can look it up for you but not until Monday or Tuesday. I don't have my manual with me. I am away! Ron
I don't have a build sheet yet. I will be pulling my tank to replace the sending unit and I am hoping I find one. It is a factory 4 speed 350. I am not sure if that helps narrow it down though. G70 14 looks like it is equivalent to a 225 70 14. I have 215 70 14 currently on the car. So my speed is slightly off then. Mainly I am looking to go with a taller and wider wheel so I am trying to keep as close to the stock wheel diameter as I can.
The closest match to a G70-14 is a P235/70R-14, problem is, no one makes that size anymore. You can get the G70-14's at Coker tire, but it is expensive. https://www.cokertire.com/catalogse...ader_make=BUICK&header_model=Skylark&q=G70-14
Thanks. I am looking at bigger wheels. It looks like a 275 40 18 matches exactly. I think that is the direction I will go. I still need to see if I have a buildsheet to ensure I didn't have the taller tire you mentioned earlier. If I don't find it I will assume a 26.7 in diameter.
Now you know why most guys just go with 15 inch Rallye wheels. More tire size options. The GS also came with G60-15's. The P245/60R-15 is a very close match at 26.6". The P255/60R-15 is 27" tall.
