cost vs performance: Is the upgrade worth it?

    Never had an issue with the points; but then again, my car hasn't got any real modifications to it.

    That said though, if I could find a stock GM HEI unit that would just bolt in to my 401 I would consider using it, those things are bullet-proof from a reliability standpoint.

    drop in hei for 80bux?:shock: dang the ones i been pricing on ebay is like 268 or 366 depending if its billet or not..
    PM me the addy or wherever you got that from if they have another id love to have one for my nailer :TU:

    they are actually down to 255 plus shipping right now on ebay if your still hunting for a drop in hei distrib for your 401.
    says specifically designed for the nailhead (whatever that means i got no clue) but if you get one let me know how it works out for you i have been kicking around the idea of buyin one for my 62 invicta 4drht but idk...

    ad says it is 40K voltage.
    one wire set up. has extra spot for tach or rev counter if you so have one :)

    i got it used off here or ebay one for that the cap was cracked but it was never installed new cap is 25 dollars it was a deal i couldnt pass up. its the billet msd or msd type also. so basically it was new but opened i guess is how i would word it.

    You have peaked my curiosity. What's up with MSD? I have used it in my truck for years (the original 425 Nailhead distributor was trash). I have had no problems whatsoever.

    See the rest of page 1 of this thread. Seems the problems are not with the older MSD products as much as the recent ones.
