Same dumb feature as previous car: with engine off, can only listen to radio for 10 minutes with the engine off. Then it turns off and ya gotta restart the car, shut it off, start the radio for another 10 minutes.

Who thinks of a syupid feature like this,? Makes going to the drive in a real pain in the butt.

Do all new cars do this?

And yeah, down here in South Fla its drive-in season -- sitting outside the car in shorts and a t-shirt.

Only salt removal issue is getting off the margarita glasses.

That’s RAP, or Reserve Accessory Power. On my 2018 Colorado, they fixed it so if you’re on a phone call and shut the vehicle off, it’ll work for 15 minutes. On my 2006 Pontiac, it’s only good for 10. I usually keep an eye on the clock, and at 8 or 9 minutes turn the key to “on” only and that adds more time. Think of it like being in a self serve car wash...

ment to not kill you battery, been that for many years on many gm cars, I think you turn the car off apply parking brake, then turn just ignition on and it wont turn your lights on, and you can listen longer but I also think your dash might be on too.

I too miss being able to turn the key back one click to listen as long as I want

On my GM cars, all you have to do is push the radio on button to get another 10 minutes. No need to touch the ignition. This is true on my 2009 G8. Try it.

I think that's a great feature, saves a dead battery if the RAP didn't shut off. You can keep the accessory power on, it should only do that if you shut the car completely off.

You don't have to re-start the vehicle, just turn the key to the "on" position, the radio will re-start, then you can turn the key off again.

The same thing happens with my Verano. All I have to do is push the radio button and it comes on again. No need to touch the key.

No jab to the OP specifically but one of the best parts of going to the drive in these days is watching people struggle with their automatic lights!

No key to turn. I can push the start button without starting car but then it dings constantly until I start it and shut it down.

Maybe I need to investigate more.

That or remember to bring the damn 18v radio.

My Taurus shuts off like that too. I like the old cars where I’m in charge of the lights, etc.

I actually LIKE that feature... If you had the inside lights on, they go out as well. Several years ago, I had manually turned on my headlights for some reason (probably trying to turn on the dome light), and when I shut the truck off, I was greeted by this "DOOM- DOOM-DOOM" tone, and couldn't figure out what was wrong... Here it was owning a vehicle for several years, and had NEVER turned the headlights on. Automatic headlights and the daytime running lights and the light sensor located in the speaker grill. It COULD be over-ridden by pushing a button beside the headlight controls. So I found out by re-reading the manual.

I TRULY hate cars where the cig lighter / power outlets / usb ports turn off with the engine off.

I suppose they are afraid people will break into your car and charge something.o_O

TexasT Texas, where are you from

Might be time to do some wire swapping or a jumper at the fuse panel. Just need to know what is on the circuit with those plugs so you don't have things hot when you don't want it.

In my Dodge Charger the radio only stays on for maybe 45 seconds after shut-off! It HAS to be adjustable...I just haven't played around with the settings yet. I was trying to adjust the frequency and gain settings on the sub and amp I'd just installed over the weekend and I thought I'd done something wrong....every 45 seconds man I kid you not!

    1972Mach1 Just some M.M.O.G. guy.....

There's a ton of parts and modules with "keep alive" memory in a newer car. They do that not to kill the battery, and we get a lot of "I had to jump start this after only 15 minutes with the stereo on!" complaints at work. Is it annoying? You bet. But it's better than being stuck in the middle of nowhere because you listened to your radio too long while having a nice evening with the wife or whoever.

Hahaha! My niece was skipping school at the lake the other day and killed the battery listening to the radio. Had to call her mom at work to come get her....karma!
