All of a sudden I now have ambient temps from all outlets of the dash and floor, regardless of the selection. Floor or vent. Hot or cold. I also have no AC. Yes, all the vacuum lines are on. No the thermostat is not bad.Yes the compressor is kicking on. Does the heater control valve in the heater hose also control AC temp? Thanks.

Do all the air flow directional controls work properly from the control panel? Vent outlets, Bi-level or Floor? Is air being blown out? Blown out all the correct places? It sounds like there may be an internal plenum control issue. There should be a diverter between the heater core and the A/C Evap core.

Yup. All the diverters work, it just blows ambient out whatever ports I select.

I believe there are more than one diverters in the plenum. If the outlet durectional diverters work, there still may be an issue with the diverter right after or between the heater core and the evap core.
A diagram would be very useful now. What year Riv? The '69 in your signature line?

I wonder if the vacuum reservoir has rusted out. :idea2: They are located behind the right wheel, inside the fender well area, between the inner wheel housing and firewall.

Yes, if the heater control valve is letting hot water in to the heater core, and if your flap is opening some to divert air through the heater core, it will heat the cold air before it comes out of the vent. but the internal flap would have to be open some for that to happen. Just the heater control valve letting water go through shouldn't make it not be cold at all.

In heat is the heater hose comming out of the manifold hot? If yes the vlave is working. no its stuck. Is the suction line from the A/C comp cold when its running? Yes its working. no It needs a charge. only other thing is to make sure the door in the heater box under the hood is moving side to side and sealing. I have the 68 Chassie manual here and it has lots of good pictures and instructions. Just changed mine over from the ACC system to a basic cable oprtated type controls. Sooo Ive had it all apart on the floor. pretty familer with it now.

Vacuum reservoir is pristine (New Mexico car). I'll look at the hoses when running and reply back. I'll also check the vacuum at the controls.

Well, it's working now. So I have no idea what wasn't doing what it was supposed to do. Thanks y'all.

    Yardley,

I checked my 1970 Assembly manual diagrams for the pictures of the full-sized Buicks heater & A/C plenum under the dash (figuring theses should be the same as the '69 Riv). There are quite a few vacuum controlled diaphrams under there, so I would keep an eye on these or the lines running from the controller, etc., incl the controller itself (which has to seal to hold a vacuum between all the settings). I can email the pics if you need, just PM me, if needed.

Thanks Ken. I have a manual. Yeah, the Riv has several vacuum pods under the dash. I guess my 413 cam isn't helping either. Low vacuum. Seems like something was sticking because it happened once before. Could it be the door on the heater box?
