Hello all. I have a 1972 Buick GS-350. I would like to upgrade the carb and distributor. The motor has a small cam and a Poston S Divider intake, nothing special. I would like to upgrade the carb with an electric choke. I would also like to get ride of the points. Any suggestions?
Stock carb done by Quadrajet Power or Everyday Performance. They can do an electric choke. Pertronix distributer would probably be good. Get your timing in faster . Look up the power timing thread on here. Msd distributer does not have a vacuum advance, so I would not think it would be the best choice for you. A 22-2400 converter would add some performance.
I think ken at everyday does distributor work . mark might also ? or there are others . the stock GM dist's are really solid as is , could just have a conversion done , work on the advance , do your timing steps . or do the same with an HEI unit ?
Ken does distributers, so he could probably correct the 72 distributer as it only has around 16 degrees of mechanical advance according to specs. And add a points conversion. Would look stock. Thats a decent choice.
Ken rebuilt my Quadrajet on my 70 350 with great results. I replaced my points with the Crane Cams XRI points eliminator and did the power timing. whole different car.
weekend no one is home The guys here do a great job with the stock carbs, dialed right in for your motor.
