So just out ofr curiosity has anyone ever tried swain techs low friction coatings on any of their builds. I stumbled upon there site the other day looking at other things. It seems the have coating that reduce friction and wear on the engine components. It would make me think that would free up power and make it where one could RPM their set up, higher than ever before. Maybe it's just foolish thinking. Maybe an experiment for later in life.:Brow:

They do work indeed, look at ceramic coated headers! Now, a lot of piston manufacturers are using coats of all sorts on their products. It even has evolved in connecting rods, cranks, intake manifolds, and so much more. Sometimes it produces more power and sometimes not, it depends on what you use it on. Sincere Gary M.

Yeah I was reading some high end race teams use similar coating to rev way up there. I would like to see if with enough R&D if you could get a Buick 350 or 455 over 8 grand with this principle and lots and lots of good machine work and prep.

I personally can not answer that question because I havnt done any of that on any buick yet. I know it works well on other brands. Oil control is a major factor in high reving engines. If you are talking a cast iron block, there is several in here that can help you on that. now for the TA Aluminum block, well just call any major high end engine builders, not only the buick ones either ;)

I do believe that gsjohnny has RPMed one of his 350 builds to 10,000 :eek2:if I remember correctly with zero special coatings.

Wow 10k? That's incredible. Is there a thread on that? I have a bunch of questions but don't wanna ask them if they are already answered some where.

He said he did that accidently but nothing broke when he did it. Do a search on gsjohnny here on his posts.

Wow! You're kidding right! Coatings don't automatically make an engine rev higher. Geez:Dou:
