I’m parting out a 65 GS. it has power windows and I’d like to install them on my 65 skylark. I’m pulling out the wiring harness. My question is do I need the entire window regulator? Or will the motors attach to non power regulators? Also are there any known issues with factory power windows? Such as bad connections switches or motors that I should upgrade while it’s all apart?

Can't use power on manual windows. Just clean ALL connections & lube everything, tracks, rollers, etc. & you should be just fine.

Ok. I’ll pull everything out and swap.

Just remember when testing, that both wires coming out of the window motor are positive. One is for up, one is for down and the ground is provided by bolting it to the door.

That bit of info right there just saved me a lot of head scratching !

Is the location of the power window switch the same as the manual hand crank hole in the door and side trim?

I’m still thinking if I really want to do this swap. I like the dependability of manual crank windows.

Well, I checked 3 motors and they all worked. THEN when I went back to check the drivers one, I put power and ground to it. It just got hot. I am convinced I mailed off a functioning window motor as a core, but now my drivers door will be the most used and brand new.

They are easy enough to take apart and check. May just need brushes
