Here's my 73 that I have been trying to resurrect from its 10 year barn sitting..I replaced all kinds of parts and added a new clutch as well as new carpet. I have replacement doors and am looking for fenders and some 1/4's so I can get the body in shape. This is a repaint of the original color from about 15 years ago. It has its flaws..I added the 15x10 and 15x6 dog dishes to escape the common Ralley wheel route. It still needs alot of detailing and such, but its going to be a cruiser and not a resto car. Give me opinions good or bad...
Nice to see another one coming back to life. You just don't see '73's & up much at all these days. Devon
Bob, I havent shortened the wires on the tach yet (I wrapped them on the column temporarily) . It was a temporary thing to be able to have a tach when I ran the car and got it running. I know it looks corny, but The 73's don't have a tach and I didn't want to bore a hole in the dash pad or somewhere to mount it.The tach has alot of memories for me as it was installed in my dad's truck all its life. Its a Stewart Warner Stage III tha he was so proud of. Since he taught me everything I know about cars and I thought so highly of him,I decided to pay a small tribute to him by using his old tach in my car. I am going to finalize the hook up this week so it will look alot better. Everytime I look at it I think of him..I sure miss him...
I know of few guys like them, but I never cared for the 73s. They are rare, but I always loved the 72s. ( Don't worry , Pat. Alot of these 70s guys HATE 72s.) Can't we all just get along ????o No: P.S. I don't remember the 70 Stage 1 winning Car of the Year .
i think it sucks. you should sell it to me, cheap. better yet, pay me to come up and take it off your hands. :bla:
In the words of my wonderful wife... "It is the ugliest looking car and the ugliest color...You don't have to worry about me driving it." Now...I hope she hates my racecar as well...lol I agree, the 73's take some time to get used to,but since this is a factory 4 speed,I can live with it alot better, There are other years of Buicks I don't necessarily care for and I am not fond of verts, but they can grow on me..
  My wonderful wife says the same thing.... I think she sees life like this: Farmall Tractor: cuts grass, cute, kids love it = "redeeming social value" 31 Ford Model A: ice cream car, cute, kids love it = "redeeming social value" 74 Chevelle: loud, smelly, fast, obnoxious = "NO redeeming social value"
i like the body color wheels:TU:i also LIKE the color. now if you wash the mold off the horn-pad,ill come take it for a drive:Brow:
The 4 speed from the factory definitley makes me want it even if its not my favorite year or color,I could get used to driving it but I do not like the wheels...Never have seen this attraction to these dogdish caps as people call them I believe.........Makes the cars look like demo cars or something in my opinion.....Otherwise will be a very nice car.......nice find.
Sean, Thanks I have owned this car since 92 and neglected it till now. I will part ways with all my other Buicks before I sell this car,but I was a bit po'd with it a few days ago. Keith, I believe your wife and mine may be related... Jamie, I just started the interior part and need to scrub it all down,as well as hook up the lights in the gauges and shorten the tach wires. I also need to re assemble the A/C under dash ducts and install the glove box liner. A good armor alling after the carpet is installed(notice no hole or shifter handle) and you should like it better.. Bruce, Like you I wouldn't have ordered that car that specific color, but in the good part, there were only 65 total 73 GS's built in 73 that color (burnt Coral). It was an optional paint color.I opted to have the dog dishes as I have nothing else to put my 295/50's and 10 inch rear rims on anymore. I am kinda not the biggest ralley wheel fan,as most people stick them on. To me they are a bit too over used and common. I wanted the sleeper type look as an old man's car(WAIT I am an old man!!! ou:  ) and want to see the ricers face when they hear me rowing it through the gears. Its something different. I was contemplating Draglites but need the money to finish some things on my racecar instead. Her's the car fresh out of the barn with the 15 inch Ralleys too..
Nice Find BigNastyGS...just wondering, do you have any finished results of your GS, mine looks identical to yours, i also have the scoop but mine is 5" outlaw, looks very nice, just want to see how it looks, as i was planning on going with a gs hood instead...or maybe keep the scoop one and see my end results as soon as its done..:bglasses:
i dont know if its the color or body style, but i dont think the rallys work on it.plain black rims wouldnt look good either.now if only you had the tire lettering on the inside, with blackwalls out:TU: another couple of doors on it & we could call you "KOJAK"...who luvs 'ya baby?:bla:
I like it, especially being a stick car. Looks to be in good shape overall. Boy for coming out of a 10 year stay in a barn the car looks great. My 73 Regal sat in a barn with dirt floors for 6 years and it really took its toll. When I went to get it there was so much dirt and rust on the car. Fortunately I have all the parts to restore the body. I even bought a NOS Quarter Panel for 45 bucks on E-bay from a guy 10 minutes from my house. Good luck finding parts and getting the car finished.:TU:
