I wasn't saying there was anything wrong with disconnecting the converter Larry, just a heads up.:TU: Bob H.
sorry for the confusion, not easy for me to find the right words try to tell what happend - engine and transmission were out - Frame off resto - Transmission only drained, was not apart, converter is new - engine and trans go back in the car before i give it to the paintshop, but i haven't fill in the oil, because i don't want the car marking his revier in the paintshop now i have found my TH350 service manual and it says "if no oil in Transmission and converter, fill in 7-8 Liter through the dipstick" 7-8 Liter = 7,4-8,4 quarts, so this would be my first try, fill in 4 Liter, wait 1 hour, fill next 1 Liter, wait again and so on ... if i get 8 Liter in it without oil coming out somewhere, it should be ok ?
With this information, it should be fine. The transmission would have residual fluid in it and so would be lubricated. I wouldn't try to fill it to max at first if you're worried about it leaking, just 4 quarts or so so that the converter gets some fluid in it, then warm it up and add fluid in until it reads within the operating range on the dipstick when warm.
