We are in the finishing steps of getting the Electra Convertible out of the paint shop, and it looks awesome. The folks at B&B Classic Cars did a wonderful job of working this beast over. The color is 2003 Nissan 350Z Burnt Orange. On a car this big, it sure is alot of burnt orange! I think with a tan interior and tan top, it should look great!
    Thoughts?

Thanks all! I'm getting excited! I have alot to do before she will be ready for the road. There is alot of chrome on that boat, and alot of it is going to have to be redone even before I can put the interior in it. I'll post a few more next week when she rolls out of the shop.

Sergeant Major, teal is a favorite color of mine. The Cat is going to look real good in that color! Shoot some photos when the first coat goes on.

Dave, I know the deal with the chrome... miles of it!!! And yards of interior to do. Keep up the good work. Will do when I get pics of the first coat.. I've always liked the Electra..nothing like an aircraft carrier on wheels!!! She's gonna be sweet Dave!!!:TU:

hey i got a 64. do mind if i ask how much it would cost (estimate wise) for something like this for a "good" body?

Total cost on mine was about 8k...and it had very little rust, a few bad places though. I was quoted from as high as 18k to 8k. It's all how you want to go about it. Search around. I did for close to two years. The main thing that gets ya is the labor.

Yeah, thats about right. I'm in for about $7K and I didn't do a frame off. That would have easily added $2K more. I didn't see the need for the frame off, just because it wasn't going back to original specs, plus it is definitely going to be a driver.

As far as the condition of mine, the floorboards had to be replaced, the rear wheel well openings had to be cut out and new metal welded in, and the trunk had two big holes where the rear tires spun up water. We cut those out too and replaced them.

I'll tell you what, these guys at B&B do unreal work. They just finished a 67 cutlass, and it is one of the best restorations I've ever seen. But thats what $30K will get ya!:kodak: It's a show piece, yet the guy drives it everyday. Of course I would too!

Yeah, the only rusted pieces that I had was the rear where Buick put that metal trim, and water collected there, on the lower part of the doors and quarter panels. That was it. They've replaced it all with sheet metal, have done a good job. I saw a Vega they were working on and it looked like hell, but when it was finished it was amazing. Mine as well will be a driver. I'm attempting to keep it as original as possible, but as we all know parts for these big boats are getting pretty hard to find.

You aren't kiddin'! I'm trying to find a radiator support for that beast now and I have only found one and the guy wants a little too much for it. I dread trying to find all of the emblems and such after it is complete.

It sounds like your car was in much better shape than mine. Did you take it off the frame?

Thanks Hector. I hope I can give you the opportunity to see it complete. It's gonna be a while, but in the end, it is definitely going to be worth it.
