How am I supposed to break my new Centerforce Dual-Friction in for " 450-500 Stop and Go Street Miles" before the race?? Do you guys do that with your clutches?

I didn't build it, I bought it that way. It was the only thing wrong with the car, and I was too lazy to change them, so I sold it.:pp

I have learned 2 things doing this exhaust job. Jack the motor up to remove drivers side header and the flange to bolt the head pipe to the manifold will not slide past the O2 bung after you have the bung welded to the pipe
Clary did get a good laugh out of it though

I only laugh because I did the same thing 4 years ago!!!!!!!
Always slide the Flange on BEFORE you weld the bung......

Miller I do believe you. You would sell a car just for that reason. OR ANY other you could think of!!!:pp :spank: Worked out well for Yvonne!!:3gears:

Donny ,I dought the problem was the centerforce. Mine lasted 6 years, only reason I replaced it was the flywheel was so purple spotted it had to be bad!!
    What did you find??

Timmy, only half the pressure plates was clamping, one side is all nice and purple and pitted, the other side is like new....

    and the flywheel matched.

I just hope having a full clutch contact does not bog down my little mouse motor

Mental Note To Self: Don't use a door stopper wedge to align your clutch and pressure plate. :Dou:

Is the "like new" side the side that faces the engine ??? :moonu:

Hell, no, I just took some parts off the car, until I get the flywheel cut correctly, all thrashing is on hold....

the bastages cut the flywheel on an angle, no wonder it was goofed up.

    dab nab it.

    No.

Had one in the '61 Vette, (slated for the '51 truck now) and currently in the '64 and '58 Mercs.

The first time I drove both Mercs was down the track. :3gears:

good thing I started early, because the old axle and lower rear control arms are not cooperating. I took tomorrow and wed off to hopefully finish it up. Otherwise I'll be working on it thurs and getting up there late.

I have a buddy who is helping get a 18K mile SC/Rambler (Rix Fix, I understand this used to be your car) ready and they are having lots of issues themselves. Distr bushing shot, control arm busing shot, broke a motor mount, now they have a leaking brake caliper. They already planned to get there late Thurs.

    edit: to include picture.

Here is what I'm dealing with from yesterday late afternoon. I finally got the rear out last night, but now the forward lower control arm bolts aren't cooperating

well the rule of thumb is that the flywheel has to match the rods.....

My "Hertz Rent-A-Racer" had a minor setback yesterday, but will be taken care of tomorrow. Then all I have to do is get my Honey-Do-List together for Cindy to get it cleaned up.
