Not a difficult thing to do but I am getting confused after viewing several threads on shifter handles past & present. I understand the "HURST" font is not correct or located properly on reproductions, but I am looking at vintage sticks. Not sure if 5335 is the correct part # over several years or different plants stamped in different areas but definitely seeing them stamped in several different areas. Some at very bottom some up to several inches up the stick. I also have a question on hole(s) in the mounting area. Again I have seen mainly one hole but also two holes. I am thinking from all I have looked at on average that "5335" for a 1970 car should be stamped down near the bottom on the side of the shifter and there should only be one hole. This one is stamped at the bottom but has two holes.Different year application or something someone modified for a different car but will still work in a 1970? Thanks in advance for any help if there is a sticky (no pun intended! Shift sticky ? Get it? Siiiiiiigh I know I know laaaaaame O! Lol) anyhow if there is a sticky thread on this. Thanks in advance for any help : )
You have a 68-72 Buick 5335 shifter handle there that someone drilled a couple of holes in. Looks like the notch is still intact though so it will fit in function in a factory 3135 shifter body.
When I had my dad's lever out few months ago, I noticed it wasn't a 5335, can't remember what it was but being a 70 it just has the "H" instead "Hurst" but it's the born with handle I'm certain, definitely shaped exactly like every other 5335 handle I've had, and the black ball has the shift pattern but it may not have originally had a consolette not sure
