While I may be an idiot, I did not say that there is a winner in pure stock. I was merely making a point in my usual sarcastic manner. If 130 cars show up at Stanton, there are 65 winners on Saturday. :)

Yes there is a winner at pure stock, it is the winner of the shoot out from the #1 and #2 qualifiers!!

My kid is in a bumper bowling league, very important to let every child get a trophy at the end of the season. So I get it.... Everybody is equally special and I apologize for thinking the the fastest car with the most skilled driver might be the winner. (last guy standing overall) I have to quit reading the magazines covering these races, I`m being fricken brain washed. :( Sorry, really :(

    What was the topic here?
I think it`s gonna be a while before people are sandbagging to run 11.49`s at Stanton and the PSMCDR has a little bit of pull here because that is Stanton`s biggest event, correct? Is Stanton a NHRA or IHRA track? As far as I know nobody has even hinted for the cars to slow down on race day? Will they or are they crying wolf? Stanton needs the PSMCDR more than the PSMCDR needs it. Just saying.. I do hope this doesn`t become a issue that can`t be worked out, nobody wants that.

Nobody had gone under 11.50 at Stanton, until Saturday in 2011, so I am sure that got the tracks attention.

Everyone who is trying will be aiming at 11.43, so yeah, this may be the year the track has an issue with us.

    This will help you, from the first post;

"The lady that runs the track said she won't put up with to much of this 11.49 stuff "

Wow Dave , sarcasm suits you well.
I was going to drop it after our long talk. But now that we have been compared to a bunch of special needs 4 year olds for not sharing your enthusiasm for the crap going on up front . I may have to jump back in.
You had mentioned in FAST its not just who wins, cause you also have a few 2 out of 3 races. but how fast you can make each catagory of a car go AKA small block, big block, 12 sec, 11,........... Whats different with ours. If its not just an overall winner in yours whats different in ours. Does everyone in FAST LOSE or is a LOSER because they can't catch Lane? Or is it the comrodery of friends hanging out having fun running your cars. Sounds like us. Id quit worrying so much about the magazines and just let this topic be what it was suppossed to be. A warning or a wake up call that MARY JO has had enough. And she has the balls to say "Have a nice day GOOD BYE"

At an NHRA event, does anyone think the guy running Stock, Super Stock or any class has any less competiveness or "taste of blood" than the guy running Top Fuel?

NO! they are out to win!

Now, follow me here........just as there are classes and levels of HP in NHRA, there are factory levels of HP in Musclecars.

However, there are not enough participants, ways or time in the day to have individual classes in P/S so there is two out of three shootouts.

Therefore, it is not correct to say Low Qualifer at P/S is the overall winner, just as it is not fair to say Top Fuel is the winner at NHRA.

Dave: the fact that there is no ladder/bracket, but instead individual "pairings", should be a big clue in determining the winners in Stanton.

Also, I think it's a bit presumptuous to say that the most skilled drivers are in the back row. (e.g., there's a *multiple* NHRA U.S. Nationals winner that runs several rows from the rear, and I'd put him in the "pretty handy behind the wheel" column)

OK, Everybody is a winner or runner-up. No losers :)

Super tough Mary J will kick anybody running faster than 11.50 out.

    Nothing less to discuss..
