I am assembling a 425. I am using parts from several engines. I have the camshaft installed along with the timing gears and chain. When I disassembled the first engine a 401, a long time ago a "trough," timing chain oil feed, was in with all the timing chain parts. I can not find a place to install it. Is it used on the newer engines? I have the "slinger," crankshaft oil to install. Is that the only way the timing chain gets oiled? Or how does it get oiled?

I talked to Russ at Centerville Auto Repair and he says that the timing chain gets it's lubrication from the front camshaft bearing. I am going to pull the cam out to see how that works.

Yes that is the item I have. I will check my block tomorrow to see if there are bolt holes. Thank you and all the way from Australia.

I just checked, my 66 425 block. There are no provisions to attach that trough to the block between the cam shaft gears. Apparently the chain is dependent on the oil coming out from the #1 cam bearing and getting slung onto the chain from the upper cam gear.
