hi guys would anyone post a pic of a 2356015 on a 7" rim verses the same tire on a 8" rim. would not the side wall have less bulge with the 8" verses the 7". Would not the car set lower with the 8" I like the 8" with the deeper rim look.Ken

While I can't post the pics you asked for, I can say that a 235/60 x 15 tire on an 8 inch rim would be OK as far as the manufacturers are concerned. However, that tire would be shorter than any tire offered for the GS including the G60 x 15 Polyglas. The equivalent tire size to original wide ovals is the 245/60 x 15 which would look awesome on 8 inch rims. Here is a 245/60 x 15 on my 7 inch rims on the front of my '71 GS if it will help.

And, here's a pic of a 295/50 x 15 on the back on 8 inch rims. This is the same overall diameter as the front tires but with lots more tread width. They fit close but, no rub.

Mounting a tire on a wider rim has no effect on the tire height at all. The tread width also remains unchanged. The maximum section width can change .2" for every 1/2" increase in rim width, so the difference in section width when going from a 7" to 8" rim will be at most, .4" (10mm). The P235/60R-15 is 26.1" tall, shorter than the stock G60-15 at 26.44". There are no downsides to the wider rim. It braces the sidewalls better for better cornering power. As far as radial bulge goes, that depends on car weight and inflation pressure. I doubt you could see any difference in pictures of the same tire mounted on the two rims.

Thank you very much for the info: I will mount my 235 on 8" wheels as soon as I can find a primo pair. I have 2 now and need 2 more Thanks again Ken.
