Looks great Gary. Awesome fab work. I'd love to see how the belt drive setup ties into the oil pan. Any more pics you can share?
Looking good Gary! Wish mine was half as far as yours! Has anyone else noticed how long it takes to build a Buick engine compared to a brand X? It seems like a few YEARS is the norm and it shouldn't be!! Anyway.......great job Gary. I need projects like yours to keep me motivated! Steve
Right Steve, My goal is to make available all those parts from billet and have them on the shelf. Ive been watching and most guys are paying for all those parts themselves. A "one off" part is expensive! Hard core parts coming ASAP!!! Going to machine shop in 30 min. I will get first physical look at intake 80% finished.
Cam is degreed ... So easy with the belt drive Waiting for a couple of bits to finish up the top end.
Gary that about the sexist motor I've ever seen. Any fear of the tiny bely for the dist, not living or flexing and throwing off the phasing some? Which mandrel drive did you go with, our new motor us going to run an at as well when Mike gets it all finished up
I agree steve, even with some simpler basic builds turn around seems long. But the few ppl the really knows our bucks ate always flooded with a lot of work. And it seems like most ppl that build good ford and Chevy can't get it right on bucks for some reason. A guy I know damaged his big Chevy and less than a week later had it back, just mind blowing to me. Now I don't know how bad it was damaged, I know it wasn't scattered just damaged
Yes Steve it takes forever to build a high end Buick engine. The 350 is exponentially challenging it is taking forever for all the custom pieces to come together. It sure is interesting to travel the road less traveled though!
Found a receipt from 2005, that's when I started gathering parts for the new 464. Of course when you take that long to gather parts, you change your mind a dozen times.
I Agree i have built 5 different engines over the past 10 years and only one of them has been used the others sit on the stand fresh as i keep upgrading my plans and starting over lol! If we coukd just snap our fingers and them delivered it would be far less changing of plans over the years.
In the car to mount some stuff and make oil, water and vacuum lines. Once that's all done, I'm going to pull it back out for a dyno appointment.
