what colour or finish were these covers on the turbo 400? Thanks
Anyone? Semi gloss black? Glass bead, clear coat?
Semi gloss, or Satin black
Thanks.......semi gloss it is
Mine was just bare no paint at all?
I believe the shield should be unpainted for authenticity, if you want to keep it factory-correct.
Nando - thanks. The unit you provided, I’ll clean it up, clear coat it.
Here’s a pic of the cover. Great patina. I cleaned it with sos pads, clear coated it. Thanks Nando
Nice job, Brad. SOS pads also do a nice job cleaning raised white lettering on tires.
Does anyone know the size bolts that are used to secure it to transmission? When I bought my car, the cover was missing along with the bolts. I have a cover now, but not sure what size the 4 bolts are that secure it.
Msg Bruno he'll know. I bought some off him for mine but can't recall the size. He may even have another set to sell?
They are self threading. I bought mine in Home Depot. I don't remember the size.
I’m not sure who Bruno is? Thanks in advance.
BrunoD here on V8.
I was not happy with those self threading screws. My cover bolt holes
are drilled and tapped for 1/4-20 machine thread (same as Olds valve
cover bolts). You can even run a long bolt through and use a nut on the
other side to retain a clamp (for my trans wiring). Bruce Roe
