Excited about my new ‘69 Skylark. I’ve always been a GM person, with older Vettes and Camaros...but this is a whole different world with Buick’s. I’m a little lost as to where the reproduction parts company’s are. With other GM’s resorations, you can get almost every piece new. But, I’m struggling in the Skylark world to find simple things.

Anyways...1st thing i’m trying to track down is reproduced rear trunk trim? Do they repo these at all. Mine are pitted pretty bad.

Other thing is my rear bumper has a rust hole in it, so it’s not a good candidate for re-chroming. Where can I buy a new bumper or a new/old re-chromed bumper? Source?

Where is Ecklers and Year One with selling Skylark parts? The seem to only do Corvettes, Camaros and GTO parts?

    Thanks,
    Eric

    Eric ,

You will need to source good used parts. The rear trunk trim is unique to the 69 Skylark. It had the word Buick molded in and is made of potmetal. The bumpers are easier to find since they are the same on all 69 skylarks. The 69 rear bumper has a backup light above the license plate. 68 rear bumpers will work they just don't have the backup light.

Hi Dave, thanks for the response. Just surprised there isn’t a large organized aftermarket repo market for Skylarks, like there is for Chevelles, Mustangs, GTO, Camaros and Corvettes. I need to talk to my Ecklers rep. and get on them about not wanting to take my money for a Skylark restoration. After all, they’ve took all my money for my other restorations. Oh well...

Rear bumper...I have to track down a new/refurb one, seeing the one I have has a rust hole in it and itsn’t a good candidate for a re-chrome. Car looks great, bumpers are sad...

    Thanks,
    Eric

I know that there are a few 68 and 69 Skylarks in a local yard, conditions unknown. Would most likely need rechroming to say the least. PM if interested

Welcome to the world of Buick and to the Stepchild Nation! Lower production numbers combined with a different mindset among the owners (picky maybe, plus relying upon the community for making power and finding parts) mean little support from the aftermarket. (And vice versa). Forget Ecklers, get a T/A and Cars, Inc. catalog.
