Cannon said ; "So.... Nobody has the balls to say all this when Jimmy and Terry run well below a .49"

    Dudek said ; "Two Corvette`s ran under 11.49 last year at Stanton, I`m thinking 11.43 & 11.48.."

That doesn't seem "well below" to me :Do No:

    I looked at the results from last years PSMCDR. Here are a few stock hp and rwhp calculation comparisons;

    L. Kirkum Corvette factory hp 435 rwhp 488
    Pete ZL1 Camaro " hp 430 rwhp 498
    Julie P. L88 Corvette- " hp 430 rwhp 501
    JJ L88 Corvette " hp 430 rwhp 535

    Mahoney Firebird 400 " hp 340 rwhp 499

BK Hemi Cuda " hp 425 rwhp 520
    Kilano 70 RR " hp 425 rwhp 522
    Keyes 67 R/T " hp 425 rwhp 527

    20s and 30s aren't well below?

As for your hp figures, what's your point?

Dudek said 11:40's. Where did you find 11:20's ???

No point, just providing numbers for everyone's benefit.

Jeremy McNicol We had a good time

I remember that race well. I ran Chris, last run was the best. I would get out in front of Chris and boy was he running me down at the big end.108 vs my 103 mph. The last run I thought he had me. Close race that was a blast. My auto with TQ vs 4 speed making HP.Thanks again Chris. Oh and thank you to Hemker for help that weekend for just that little help I needed to get a super high 12 sec run, sure felt good.Hope my story didn't kill the mood. Buick fast with class :)

Man Steve, not sure where you got that #. I just got my page from the race yesterday and it puts me at 465 hp on a 430 motor. Saturday was a real good air day. That the most my car has ever calculated out too. Historically I never make the top 10 for horsepower, and I think this year I'm # 10.

If anyone wants an honest to god answer to wether or not the kind of horspower numbers are possible out of a Hemi using todays technology to build it, you all should go ask the man himself. Tom Hoover the father of the Hemi and 426 max wedge and 440 six packs, also one of the original Ramcharger members. You ask how do we do that well his sone runs a 64 max wedge at the psmcdr for the past 2 years, its dark blue and runs 11.60s, and Tom senior has been there each year.
I mean honestly who better to ask than the guy who helped design, build dyno test and race the very first Hemis. I have talked to him briefly he is a nice gentleman and i am sure would be happy to answer questions. Also there is a book called We were the Ramchargers that has a lot of good info on these topics.

I do hate whining, I am just saying this so that maybe it could help put a stop to the whining thats all. I don't know if anyone realized that Mr Hoover was there let alone who he is.

Some of my favorites from "We were the Ramchargers"

" We began building dyno rooms 12 and 13 that would be capable of over 8000 RPM"

"The very best Max Wedge had like 490 hp on the dynomometer, and THE VERY FIRST RUN EVER on the Hemi was 530 and very quickly 550 and north from there"

" Last year the new Chevy 427 surprised everybody with blazing speed, the extra speed margin was only 2 or 3 mph, but more than 10= FANTASTIC! The discrepancy proved FATAL for top Fords like Parnelli Jones and Foyt who, at 127 laps into the race, paid the PENALTY for drafting faster Hemis by over-revving and blowing their engines...The message was clear. You had to run a Plymouth or Dodge to run FAST... Richard Petty stroked along with a comfortable lead through the middle part of the race and lapped the field at regular intervals. Everytime he passed a car that tried to drop in the Plymouths draft for a free ride, Richard would raise his speed from the 170-171 bracket until he had shaken the hitchhiker, then resume his normal pace."

"It finally got to a point where NHRA told Chevrolet Engineering, 'Build whatever you want that will win, and we will pass it through tech.' So at Pomona in 1972, there were 39 cars that came to race Pro Stock with real bodies in white, and Jenkins with his tube-frame job"

"Before the 74 season, Maxwell, now head of the Chrysler race program, flew to Los Angeles to meet with NHRA officials. Says Maxwell, I asked them, "If we get our cars competitive with the current weight breaks are you guys going to stack even more weight on us?" They leaned back and said, " you bet."

I've been very consistent in my views of rules, enforcement and cars geting out of hand. I have not thrown a rock at poor Rick's Road Runner.

Why do unrealistic times matter for a Pure Stock car? I can't see it being good for the race long term. Heck look at the F.A.S.T. field at Martin. I think they raced themselves into near extinction.

The real humor I get from Rick's Road Runner is how he's on most Mopar boys shoulders now, but with the RA11 most wanted his head on a spike.:laugh:

    John,

Your whining!!!! "I am just saying this so that maybe it could help put a stop to the whining thats all" No John, what part of these 4 pages do you think nobody has read???? Really, if the motor made 1000hp you would be saying that it is a HEMi and "If anyone wants an honest to god answer to wether or not the kind of horspower numbers are possible out of a Hemi using todays technology to build it, you all should go ask the man himself. Tom Hoover the father of the Hemi and 426 max wedge and 440 six packs, also one of the original Ramcharger members. I know this is above you but just bring a legal car and go racing. Nobody cares wants you to bring, just make it legal and to the rules. I'm glad you love the HEMI but if I brought a Warren Johnson BBC and told you it's Warren's and he makes a thousand HP on manifolds you would be telling me I'm full of $hit. Or if I brought a Jenkins motor and said cool, it puts the car in 10.80's with manifolds you would be saying "Tear the M'er F'er down'. I get it, but do you?????????? John, nothing against you but give it a break about everyone being a car moron!!!! The car makes HP but,..... you're asking everyone to look the other way just because it's a HEMI! I was not the one that put this stuff on web to jam it down everyones throat. No, I don't need a whiskey chaser to see it the way you do!

To be honest, I had alot of fun that day. The L88 is a serious piece of equiptment. I was real happy to see one up close. I sure didn't see anything that jumped out at me but I sure didn't expect to. Was fun to see how the other half live

See this is where your wrong the only reason i said anything about asking Tom Hoover is because of all the complaining about the 600 plus horsepower numbers that someone claims someone else makes thats it.The guy was there dynoing the very first one before anyone ever saw the engine.
I really don't care who builds the engines Waren Johnson or otherwise if you have that kind of money and he want to take on the challenge of building a pure stocker then great. I would love it if every single car in the place ran 11's 10's what ever, if its legal great. I like all cars would be cool to see that chevelle in your avatar go out and run 10's, I am not just about the Hemi. Just seems that is the engine thats getting all the negative attention and thats what I grew up around. I never said anyone was a car moron at all, especially you. I Am just saying we including myself especially don't know about building engines to the extent someone like waren johnson or Ray Barton Does, Give them the rule book and an engine with unlimited money and they could blow your mind i am sure.

well, I still don't see where an unlimited amount of money can be spent on a stock motor that meets the rules.

stock cam, stock lifters, stock rods, nhra replacement pistons, stock valves, stock rings, stock block, stock heads, stock carb(s), stock intake, stock manifolds, stock oil pump, stock water pump.

where are you spending all this money out of your overstuffed shiney wallet ? I got a pile of money and no place to spend it...........

I am sure the only thing that would blow my mind is how dishonestly they would try to pass something off as 'within the rulebook'.........
