Ight so since I'm on the down hill side of a 5yr long Chevelle SS 396 restoration for a friend, I'm going to start piddling on one of the back burner projects.

Car is a 76 Skyhawk, super solid straight car
This project will be a swap meet special, lots of used stuff and repurposing.

Got a low mile 71 350, going to tear down, open top rings up a little. And have a custom ground turbo cam done. Heads will be just freshened up no port work just a nice valve job and some stainless backcut valves.

Intake will be a sp3,..gotta buy another one since I sold the first I had for no reason,..typical.

    650cfm blow thru carb
Frozen boost air2water intercooler mounted in pass compartment

    Turbo will be a el-cheapo on3 88mm or similar

I've never had a dedicated track car, so this is a long time coming just want something I can beat on and go rounds I guess. Still going back and forth if I wanna back half it or just make room for some 275's and call it good. Cage will be a mild steel 10pt simply cause my chassis guy is over a year out and this will be budget minded anyways

Should make around 500whp with a very conservative tune up.

    alec296 i need another buick

Sounds like a fun setup. I would think if your gonna spend the money on stainless valves, just get the TA bigger valves, and cut the larger valve seat , maybe a light blend.
What kind of rear end will you fit in there?

I got a lot of the parts needed laying around as always time is hard to find, but while I'm saving up for some of the stuff for the twin turbo Tomahawk build, I can get a few things done on this one

These little cars are kinda odd, they can look pretty good from one angle and from other angles ehhhh,...ha but I'm more interested in seeing what I can do with a 350 both boosted and if I hang on to it long enough build a full boogy race SBB. The curb weight is around 2800lb with the V6 and all the stock stuff, hopefully it will stay around that #

The engine compartment isn't as big as it looks. From 75-80 the Chevy Monza Spyder came with a sbc shoehorned into them with very little room to spare. It was rare for the # 7&8 plugs to ever be replaced on them. Your mockup for a sbb should be interesting especially with turbo plumbing. A gn engine would be a much easier fit.

I had a ton of fun with my Skyhawk, should have done the 350 turbo plan I had for it.

I've bought and sold truckloads of turbo v6 stuff, not buying anymore,..several guys have done buick 350's in the hawks, I'll be eliminating pretty much whatever gets in my way in the engine compartment as it will be a track car only

And then the house renovation....but I'm a habitual project starter, ha I waiting on my friend to finish a couple cages then he is going to start on my headers for the Tomahawk car

Very cool project! Is this going to be a drag race oriented build or road race? Auto or manual trans?

Strictly drag action for this one, th350 for now then if I like it well enough it will get a glide
