I have a 1969 Skylark Custom w/350-4, all the U-bolts I've found for the rear end at the drive shaft are either to wide or to short. The last pair I purchase will not allow any threads past the nuts (to short). Thanks Jaye
What is the outside diameter of the u-joint cap? Also, how long are the bolts that are too short? Stand one up and measure to the top of the curve. I should have what you need. Thanks, Bob.
If rocketracer can't help you.I'm sure I can.I have a coffee box full of them .You are sure you need the U-Bolts?If not I also have a can of the straight ones.with the part that goes around the cap.Bruno.
The ones I got came from Napa, when tightened the bolts are almost through the nuts but not quite. When I had the car on a lift a few months ago I didn't see any threads that's why I thought it needed the u-bolts. It will be a few days before I can get the car on a lift to measure the bolts, maybe this weekend.
I measured the U-bolt and the ones I have are 1 3/8" from the end to where the bolt bends forming the "U" that fits over the U-joint cap. I also double checked and there aren't any threads inside the diff shaft ends.
Mine are all the same length also. Are you sure you have the right U-Joint in there. Those that we have are all standard for the 8.2 and 8,5 rears, some Chevy's require a smaller you joint, also a smaller U clip.Bruno.
Mine is the same size as the ones you show, I my have the wrong size cup on the Ujoint however, the one I have is supposedly for a 69 Skylark. I'll check the cup size when I get back in the shop this weekend. Thanks Jaye
