Underseat Sub-woofer install

I'm going to install an underseat sub woofer (under the passenger seat) in my GS that has a modern conversion of the original radio with a 4 speaker system. I have an RCA sub output on the back of the radio and a switched output for the sub. My concern is where to get the power for the sub. I want to get clean power from the battery but, I have original style spring ring battery cables so wiring directly to the battery is out. I want to get the power from the starter and run it into the passenger compartment. So, where is the best place to drill or access an existing place to pass the wire through?

I'd ran mine from the battery, and I ran the cable in togtheter with the other cables to the fusebox, and all the way to the trunk under the trim that goes where the doors shut.. Remember to run the phono signal cables from the other side than the power, and the remote togtheter with the power... The remote has to come from some where that only has power when the ignition is on..

I only need to run 12 volts to the underside of the passenger seat. I'd rather not go all the way to the fuse panel and then back over the passenger side but, thanks for the suggestion.

Before you get your heart too set on that under seat sub woofer make sure it actually fits.

There is less space under these old seats than you might expect.

Never tried it on a spring type b4 but for under 5 bucks it's work a try easy way to get 3 extra power spots cleanly

All amps need a battery 12v positive and neg, a 12 volt turn on circuit, this could come from the radio, the power antenna plug, key on, or a simple switch, plus the signal.....normally rca, some take direct speaker output.

If you ground your amp to the body, IE seat bolt, seat belt, etc. You will want to make sure you have a good large gauge or braided cable from the firewall to the battery or at least the block/head/intake. I also like to run a small capacitor on older cars always.......it absorbs a lot of electric sounds, plus a lot of older cars do still have low amp charging circuits and it will help keep the lights and stuff from dimming while the music plays

I used one of those 3 spade with my spring terminals. Cut 2 off so I could make as hidden as possible. It did require a little filing on the terminal to do so. My sub is a kenwood ksc-sw11 and fits nicely under the passenger seat. It provides some nice base to support the 2 - 3.5” speakers in the dash. Sub powers on from built in sub radio terminal.

Fred, that looks perfect for what I want to do. So, how did you get the 12 volt wire into the passenger compartment? And, did you ground the amp to the body under the seat plus have a ground strap from the motor to the firewall? That's what I plan on doing.

I ran the wire/wires(I’m running a small amp too) through the plug (closest to the kick panel) that holds the firewall insulation. I cut the tip of the plug just enough to feed the wires through. I also fed the wires through asphalt loom to protect them as they are fed under the fender. Since the plug is barbed the loom slid over the end and locked on tightly. My fuse block is mounted on the inside of the fender just behind the coolant tank. Outside of the wire from the battery it hard to see anything unless you’re really looking for it and that was my goal.

As far as grounds I usd the front seat bolt and also have the ground strap from firewall to block.

If you want I can send you a couple more pictures.

Yes, I'd like to see pics of the feed thru from the engine compartment to the inside. I'll PM you my email address.

There is a hole already there on the firewall beside the vacuum canister. Its where the vacuum hoses goes through the firewall. You could run the wire down beside the heater floor vent(by the gas pedal) and under the carpet, over the top of the console and down to the hole in the carpet for the front left passenger seat mount.
