Hi all, Heres the latest updates on my 72 GS. Couple of more weeks and I be bringing her home. Then all I have to do is reinstall all of the stainless and wait for the bumpers to come back from 'rechroming'. I originally started a thread in the 'bench' at the link below. I decided that this forum was a more appropriate place. If you interested in seeing the progress from the start, click on the link. http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=90191 Harry Below is the first picture.
Wow Harry - that looks GREAT! :beer Just curious - How many wet sanding hours do you have in just this quarter panel?
Marco, As much as i'd like to say i'm doing the work and give you an answer, I'm not doing the paint and body on the car. Darren is, he posts here under 'xtremepaint'. Here's his website (Darren I hope it's ok I posted the URL, I figured it was in you signature on your posts so I thought you wouldn't mind) http://www.xtremepaintandbody.com/ If he doesn't reply on the thread, I'll ask him when I talk to him next time how long it took. Also Marco, Frank, and Phil, Thanks for the nice comments on the car, but as I said all 'kudos' should go to Darren. Harry
All I can say is WOW.... :beer That looks unreal. Cant wait to see it all together. Keep up the good work Harry. Dustin
Marco, I have your answer from Darren, it's as follows, verbatim: "We did get a new cam, but just the upgraded vesion of our old one as it broke. As far as wet sanding hours, I don't wet sand. I color sand with 3M hook-it 1500. Dry. Just to let the guys know. Much faster, and better IMO. Takes about 1 hour per panel depending on the size of the panel. Your hood took 2 hours to polish. Getting things together now though. It's starting to look like a Buick again. Yeah. Hope all on the forum liked. I think you will too. I'm making you a show car Harry....like it or not. TU" That last sentence is in response to when I first talked to Darren and told him, I'm not really looking for a 'show car' quality paint job, just something that looks nice... It's nice to see that somebody still takes such pride in their work. Harry
Looking awesome Harry!!! I cant wait to see it come back together....Partially so I can get mine in the shop with Darren and have him work his magic  .
Just ship the hood to me. I'll send you mine to "redo".   . That looks great!!!! I am so jealous. Len
Glad people like it. Thanks for the props. Yeah, yours is next Bo. I'll keep you updated too, so you can start your own thread on it. :beer
Type of paint? Looks great. What type of paint is that? How about some info on polishing methods and the products you use. Keep the pictures coming! Thanks Bert
