Where is everyone putting there msd coil. Second now I need a 12 volts source to run distributor

I mounted mine in the factory coil bracket.

For 12 volt power you likely have a unused male spade in the fuse box labeled acc .
Check that this is only powered up with the key in the run position then wire into it with a inline plug in type fuse of the amperage rating called for in the MSD instructions.
If your car tends to be hard to Crank over when hot then this wire is a great place to wire in a kill switch.
The use of this will allow you to get the motor rolling over nice without spark kicing back on the starter.

If you hide the switch under the dash some it also makes for a cheap anti theft device!

The switch should be rated for some 2 amps more than the fuse used on the MSD.

I like to use a double pole single throw switch with both sections wired in parallel for 2 times the current rating!

you can fire the msd box with the resistor wire.

Guys, the only thing the small red wire does is turn the box on, that doesn't take much. The MSD box gets it's power DIRECTLY from the battery. The right way to do this is to replace the resistor wire from the fuse box and use a regular 14 gauge wire. While the resistor wire may be enough to turn the box on, I would rather use a regular wire and 12 volts.

the resistor wire is 12 volts Larry. it only drops voltage as more amperage goes through it. the relay it fires in the msd box doesn't pull enough amperage to drop the power..

I understand Joe, I just changed out the whole thing in my install, and kept the resistor wire, fuse block connector and all.
