I posted this one about a year ago. I am shocked it's still available and came back up for sale. Thought for sure it'd be gone.

  2. I'd really like to have it but I just can't justify buying it with two other Buicks sitting on my property untouched at the moment

It's a pretty car, and it's cheap. But, it's also a bare-bones LeSabre, and while I have no issues with the colour, that gold tends to be off-putting to most. This thing would probably make an acceptable driver, but I wouldn't throw anything more at except upkeep.

Me too. I'd put some wheels and tires on it, lower it down, and cruise. You'd have something cooler than 95% of the people out there for under 4 grand.

LeSabres are certainly under-appreciated. I'd probably black out the grille and tailpanel, ala GS. And add some fat tires.
Hard to believe it has so many miles, it looks fantastic for it's age. You'd be hard pressed to find another car in this condition for such a great price.

It’s cheap and appears to have had good care over the years, but what is a basic LeSabre with 230k mikes really worth? Obviously not much or it would be gone.

I like it initially but, when I take a moment to think about it I decide to pass. It is local to me as well. I just think you would throw a few thousand at it in the blink of an eye. At that point I’d rather look for a Buick I really want. I think that is the thought process many others have gone through and that is what keeps it from selling. I also have the sneaking suspicion it may have rust and not be as clean as it looks in the pictures.

I sent him a text asking if I could call tonight. I don't need another car, but for the price you never know, plus one of us has got to get info for the other guys.

OK V-8 Buick People: Yes, this is not too bad a car. Unfortunately that 340 is a real crapper in the Le Sabre, Skylark? Not too bad but the Le Sabre is a heavy car, the 340 has lousy oiling and they rarely see 100K. They're also way under powered. I know because I had a new one with a/c. I babied it and it was a real dog. I currently have have 3 66 Le Sabres. One is clunked out and I'm having a guy build a Buick 350 for it. The other problems with this thing is that it really doesn't sparkle and the rust under the rear window molding could be REALLY REALLY bad. The only way to see is strip it down to the bare metal to asses the damage.

Bottom line? Get the price right, return inquiries respectfully and this baby's gone in a few days! Mitch

  12. That's odd, I had a 66 340 powered Skylark and it was very snappy and not underpowered at all.

I don't know Mitch, I had a 67 4 door LeSabre with the 340 2V with the 2 speed in it and it wasn't bad; it also had 132,000 on it. It was doing just fine; it started at -40 , and it had enough pep to pass cars on the highway. It oiled well enough to blow gaskets and leak all over the street in front of the house. Was it a quarter miler? No; but it was respectable enough. I wasn't racing it, but it was more than adequate to keep up with modern traffic and scare the odd rusty Fox Body and pimply faced kid. It beats the hell out of a comparable 283 in an Impala any day.

  14. Yeah, I owned a 67 impala with a 283 and power glide...what a Turd

No response yet.......I'll try again tomorrow if I don't hear from him today..........They don't all need to be fast, and for something this heavy it'd take 500+ hp to be what I'd consider quick. Adequate, like Rolls Royce says, is fine sometimes. My "built" Nailhead in my Riv is far, far, far from fast or quick, but it's adequate. I've got other stuff to go fast.

  16. curb weight doesn't seem much more than a skylark or GS

4000-ish lbs. would still need 500 hp to be fast hahaha. That would get it into the 12s...I suppose it's what you're used to and your point of reference. This LeSabre I'd just keep stock, but lower it, put wheels/tires on it, and cruise it till it gave up the ghost or I flipped it.

  18. I agree, if I want fast I have an 11 second Mustang with a factory warranty. if I want comfortable cruising with style I jump in the Buick

The idea behind A LeSabre never had fast in mind, they were Buick’s low end full-size car. That said, I’ve never found issue with the power behind at 340, it is certainly more than adequate for a LeSabre and even more so for a skylark. I certainly would want a four barrel though.
