I've decided I'm going to be putting a black vinyl roof back onto my '67 Wildcat once the frame off resto is done (as per factory, but the color of the body is getting changed). But I was wondering what should be done to prep the roof for a new vinyl top. I got the car in decent condition, and there's some surface rust, but nothing significant. I was almost thinking of taking a wire wheel to it and then paint it with POR-15, then have a shop install the top.

prep the metal surface and have your painter paint the roof the car's new colour. then apply the new vinyl.
