Looking for an original master cylinder for 1970 GS455 with disc brakes. Casting number should be 5468309 with "EA" stamped on the machined pad. I am looking for date codes prior to December, 1969 but let me know what you have, even if it is a later date code.

Thanks for looking Ryan. I am starting to have that problem too - where did I put that part?

Did they use the same master cylinder, with the oval lid,for all of 1970 production,or did they change to the rectangle style in mid-production? This is all for disc brake applications, not drum.

Beats me. Rich Johns, who is restoring my December '69 build car has me looking for a round bowl/oval lid master cylinder. He knows a bot more about what parts were used over the course of the production year than I do. My car has pointed lenses on the gauges, clear top overflow tank, and other early production parts.

Yes,he is correct. My September/69 built 70 4-speed has all of that, but my other car,January/70,has the rectangle, and I have seen that style on some other concours-restored 70’s. Trying to figure out if someone switched it,or if it is correct for that date/era.

Thanks Ryan, I think I found one. I want to see how it cleans up. If you don't mind I will follow up on yours after I see how the other one turns out.

I have one of these master cylinders for my car also. Who can correctly rebuild it with the right finishes ? Thanks..

Your Napa store can send it out to be rebuilt. If you wanted it done with SS sleeve and powder coated there is a guy on the west cost that does them and the calipers. That is where I sent mine, not cheap..

Stacey, did you find a master cylinder? I have an EA Round bowl that is show car nice. The date is not readable as most are. 309 casting .

Those sure are nice. What’s a ballpark price on having one rebuilt? What about the cost of having it properly refinished? My early 70 GS came with drums all the way around. I’m leaning towards AT Least changing to disc up front and drum in the rear. Thank You All! Mark
