The place where I used to buy my AC Delco Batteries will not sell them anymore because they are made in Korea and Saudi Arabia, at least that's what they told me last year. So I bought a Deka made in Pennsylvania.

If you find one what you'll be buying is an AC Delco label on somebody else's battery (there are apparently three flooded battery manufacturers).

Delco has two lines of batteries. The old US made line that was 'group size/blank year' are now something like group size and 'silver/gold/?'. Those (and Motorcraft) are still made in the US by Johnson Controls. Delco does have a Korean built price leader, I don't remember its name. I'd get a quote from a shop close by; he might be competitive on price and it's always good to build local relationships. If that doesn't work, I'd try a big wholesale distributor that may not seek out individuals but will sell to them. In Atlanta I'd suggest Johnson Industies/Parts Authority. If having a Delco isn't important I'd buy as local as I could (so that if you need it charged, tested, and maybe exchanged it's not so far to go).

Not to hi-jack this thread, but I, too, like the look of the AC-Delco battery. Did not know of this new "value" line manufacturers overseas. I have a '70 Lark and am getting ready to fire it up. Will have 11.5 compression so I am looking for the most powerful battery, under $200 or so, that will fit in the original tray. Any ideas? Will put in any brand, at this point.

    Thanks!
