...in '58 using a '58 Buick Super Coupe. Three right-hand turns around the block and a 3-point park. Done...

Took my test around 1973 in a dark green 1970 Dodge Dart Swinger with the slant 6. That engine was bullet proof. It would not blow up, I tried numerous times.:D

...bought new coupe for fringe commuting in late '70s, don't remember year, but had argent eggcrate grille. Over 100K miles trouble-free, never even adjusted clutch (shifted mostly on synchronizers, learned on my BSA A10)...

I took it in my mom's 1982 Buick Skyhawk.

Hmmmmm, looking back on that perhaps it was foreshadowing of my future interests.

1964 Buick Electra 225 with 425 and 4 doors! Didn't think I could parallel park the '56 Century 66R without power steering!

It was 1976 and I was driving my mothers 1971 Buick Skylark coupe. She bought it new in 71 and it was code 75 red with black vinyl top and black interior. Loved that car and cemented my love for the Buick A bodies.

1975 Buick Skylark. 260 V8. Bought from a friend. Him and his dad fixed it up. They used 5 gallons of tiger hair bondo to patch it up. That car always ran great.

...yes, it was. "Inherited" a '65 'Cuda with marriage. Became our only car for years when I sold my hopped-up Corvair and BSA. Drove it to death. That car made me appreciate how Mopar engineering could get so much from so little, compared to GM and Ford builds...

This thread cracks me up! It's like a history lesson of mostly weenie cars. I can't even picture most of you people in these cars. It's my vote for thread of the week! Please keep them coming lol

Actually, I was 7 years old when I learned to drive a 1947 green Ford 1 ton pickup, 4 on the floor but it did have a radio. On the farm, U had to learn to drive anything that had wheels & a motor. Also, when I was 14, I had had to scooters one being a Corgi - after WW2 - for the public. Its forerunner was portable & paratroopers (I think British) would strap them to their backs when the landed in Germany.

...for me, priorities changed with marriage; careers, house, and family. Sold hobby stuff for house down payment fund. Kept gearhead skills by repair/remodeling until able to get back to cars (Buicks) I grew up with...

...around here, Cushman was scoot of choice...

1971 4 Door Buick Electra Limited that came with a leftover 1970 motor because it was an early build (1st week Sept 1970) and there were leftover 1970 motors because of the strike. I drove that car like it was a Sports Car. ;)

Well at least my sister wasn't a weenie! She took her driving test in her '68 SS396 Chevelle (4 speed, 4.10 rear) that she bought when she only had a learner's permit. When she went to take the test, the HP officer who was giving the test, looked under her car to, as he said, "to see if it even had any mufflers on it"! He told her she couldn't take the driving test until she had some quieter mufflers put on it. She did, and passed the test the first time.

1965. Took the test in my father's 1955 Olds 88 two tone blue and white 4 door sedan . Automatic v8 4v w/power steering. Later, cleaned the leaves and debris out of the oil bath breather and that car would moan when you put your foot in it! Learned how to drive a straight drive in the gravel parking lot of the Durham County football stadium in a pal's 3 on the tree 1950 Ford. $50.00 car that had yellow floor lineoleum for door panels.

Wow, that was a long time ago but if memory serves me correctly it was my dad's `67 Mercury. Not sure of the model anymore but it was the full size car.

First road bike and took my test (UK) on... 1950 something BSA bantam
    d1bantam_large.jpg

When I moved to the States in 1996 I had to take a test to get my Massachusetts license. UK license is good until I'm 70 - which is getting perilously close!
Road tests were (are?) taken with a State Trooper.
Left the DMV lot went up the road. Turned left, turned right, 3 point turn, drove back to DMV Done!
