Just dropped off my steel wheels to be powdercoated. Thinking of doing black semi gloss, but what we're the official color for a black steel wheel? We're they gloss or matte.

    Thanks,
    David

I seem to recall 60 gloss. You running full wheel covers? Wheels were usually painted body color if they had poverty caps.

Thanks :TU: I'll check out what's the closest color they have to 60 gloss.
I kinda like the black instead of the body paint on the wheels.
I will be putting on dog dish caps.

Of course make your wheels however you prefer, it's your car. The factory used gloss paint on all wheels regardless of color. For example, here is the original spare wheel in the trunk of a 25k mile '72 Skylark. It is clearly gloss black.

Dang, I didn't realize that they had some shine on them. I think the semi gloss I have would be fine. Can't have it more Shiny than the car. lol

Smokey15 So old that I use AARP bolts.

With poverty caps, I'd go with gloss.

Poverty caps are just the small standard covers that only cover the center portion of a steel wheel. This is the poverty or dog dish cap for a Buick.

Actually the wheels on my black car are high gloss and very shiny, that photo just doesn't really show it well.
