Ok guys... I need to order some touch up paint, and I am not sure whether my car is Cameo Creme... or Desert Beige... Here is the car: I guess it's Desert Beige. What do you think? It is the original color... it's been repainted, but all the little hidden places match pretty well, and you can tell that paint is older... and Mike Trom says the cowl tag doesn't list body color in 68... ...and here is a pic taken indoors: Thanks, Frank
Frank, Your car is not Cameo Cream, that is more of a yellow color. My GS is Cameo cream. Can you post a photo of your cowl tag, the paint color must be on there and I may have just missed it. o No: This is Cameo Cream. :beer
Here is a comparison of the two colors... Cameo Cream would be Y-Y on your cowl tag, Desert Beige would be T-T. :beer
Frank,, That X-X is what confused me at first because "Buckskin" is a Riv only exterior color and I only looked at Skylark paint chips. Buckskin looks alot darker than your car. o No:
Here is Buckskin: and here is the car again: It sure looks darker, doesn't it... but I've looked, and I cant find evidence of a different color paint anywhere. Maybe the factory painted it lighter than buckskin, and a paint shop mixed up a match for what the car had on it when it was repainted... There are surely some weird thing with these old cars, aren't there? Frank
Hey Man great car !!! Not to sure if I have talked to you before I have never seen a Riviera that color before very Nice to me it looks like Desert Beige is it just the hood that you are repainting stone chip? if it is bigger then a dime and you use the wrong color the car look like **** you dont see to many of the 69 Riviera's with the vinal top still on My Riviera was green we could not find the Exact color match so we changed the color of the whole car it is now grey you can check out my site if you like . Joshua
Rock chip?!?! Where????????? No repainting going on here... I've just got some tiny spots of r*st I'm gonna cover. Nothing noticeable, but I would like to have the right color! Frank
I dont know what you are repainting I was just saying if you had a few stone chips and you used the a off color it would look like crap I understand what you are going threw trust me hope you find the right color I think you are in the right place with Desert Beige GOOD LUCK JOSHUA,
I wonder if a paint shop can mix me up some paint from either seeing it or maybe I can flake off a piece from some unseen place? F
I know they can for 100% I have work at a body shop here in Canada and it was done many times not to sure about the price if you go that way you should get lots of extra paint
Frank If you are going to match The Paint That Is On The Car then I would match The Paint That Is On The Car. In other words, have something scanned and mixed to match. My book agrees, it is Buckskin by the tag, but the posted Buckskin sample does look much darker than the car. If you are touching up small spots, have paint mixed to match.
Frank, I think that the paint faded slightly from original or in your case the re-paint. At least thats what happened to buicks with "sierra tan" paint that fades.
