I just scuffed the underside of my hood (for painting) and the "paint" seemed very easy to remove. The color was very flat.. Is a flat black what people are using or something a bit more shinny? for shows

Please let me know what you have used

I think everything black under the hood was a variation of semi gloss black, some duller or shinier than others, what ever the factory had they used, but I dont think flat black was ever used.

The air cleaner however, I believe was gloss black.

When I did my 72, I used spray cans of semi gloss black from autozone/advance and it turned out great.

The only thing I ever found really flat was a non Ac heater box inside the car under the dash < No shine at all.
