What is this fastener called?

    Hi,

    I believe its called a Cage Nut

    ...just make sure you get correct thread pitch, there were 2 in use, Flint was oddball at 10TPI IIRC...

    They are just square nuts and not cage nuts. Factory originals had no threads in them. When a worker installed the screws it cut the threads. An NOS fenderwell or fender will have no threads at all. Flint only used a tapping screw. GMAD plants used a standard course thread. I have changed thread types in these and it worked. Too much strain on them however twists the nut right off. You can just buy square 5/6” nuts at a hardware store and weld them on.
