My original 65 special convertible doesn't appear to have any paint on the underside of the floors. I used chassis black on the frame, and a higher gloss black on the stock suspension pieces that remain.

What color paint would be appropriate and acceptable to use on the underside of the floor. Satin black? Red primer? Gray primer? Any underbody pictures anyone has would be a big help too.

I'm fairly certain it flat black. If I'm doing a rotisserie restoration I paint the underside with body color and clear coat it, makes it easier to keep clean.

Flat black, but not your typical flat black like what comes in an aerosol can, more like a 50% gloss. And if you really want to get into detail you can do the overspray of body color over the top of the black. I never do, I always felt it looked like crappy workmanship. If you intend to have the car judged, they usually accept it either way.

Was there not a lot of over spray of the body cover on the underside perimeter?

Bottom of body is semi gloss black with overspray of body color reaching even into the transmission tunnel. Light overspray, not heavy at all.

This is all dependent on the worker, the time of day, the phase of the moon, etc. You get the idea. No two are alike.

Flint cars were black. Many GMAD cars were red primer.

Or if it were Friday morning after the Thursday payday cheque and the many beers purchased with that cheque...
