No - I got all the replacement parts and wear items from Jim @ JD (Monzas), but a replacement diff and/or ring pinion are used parts only. It's not that theyre not available, Desert Valley AP has a few full size Pontiacs , and Franks seems to have the right stuff too. But if you're looking for a replacement posi, be prepared to wait and be patient. They do turn up on the board here at the rat of maybe one a year...If youre looking to for more gear and can wait for the posi, then the 3.08 set from Franks is your best bet. To go to a 3.23 or 3.42, you need the next carrier break up and I waited 30 years before I found one..

Just looking to get a little more gear. Right now its 2.73. I got posi and as far as I can tell it's fine. Just looking for a ring and pinion. Something around 3.5 would be nice, but at this point I'd be happy with whatever I can get.

Luxus, I think this is what you're after right here. If you need me to contact him to get some info let me know as I have a user account with kijiji. If he's not willing to ship state side but is within Canada I'm willing to get it shipped to me then I'll ship it to you. It's a 5hr drive (10hrs round trip) to Ottawa from my place or I'd offer to pick it up for you.

Hell it was (and still is) my highway car...the 3.08's and open diff served me fine. I dont know if I'll ever race it, but at least with the 3.42'a I can if I feel like it. I'd just hate to give up the mileage and range of the current config, although I did just throw in a 3.08 posi I had.

no, if they were out of a skylark they'd be 8.5 gears...

I seen 3.08 and 8.875 and thought we had a winner! Any chance that the rear is a 8.875 and it was just IN a 72 skylark at the time it was removed? Or are two the rears not interchangeable in a sense that it couldn't be mounted?

Chevys only have the 1.625 pinion shaft anyway. The truck 12 bolt is even smaller at 1.438"

Thanks for the help guys, now that I know what I have I think I'll go with a 3.08 for now. Seems like that at least won't be too hard to find used.

Just FYI for you guys who have the Pontiac 8.875 rear I found this in my search:

    https://fabcraftmetalworks.com/product/rear-axlera4-09355/

I spoke to these guys. They made a 3.55 set in the past and plan to do another run if they get enough interest. They estimated doing another run by the end of the year. It is pricey, but it's not like we have any other choice. The more people that sign up, the more they will make which means the more they will be able to lower their price.
