What size tires look good on 17x8 wheels

Have a 68 skylark. What size tires look good with 17x8 wheels?

 

My rims are 17x9 on all 4 corners. Here’s my combo (Toyo Proxes ST II)
Front: 225/55R17
Rear: 275/55R17

 

If you want the same tire front and rear and similar diameter as original G60 tires, the 245/50 x 17 would work well. If you want to sit a little higher, the 235/55 x 17 would work. The 275/55 x 17 is a 29.1 inch tall tire. Pretty tall for a Skylark IMO.

If they will fit, 285/40/17 and 255/45/17

 

285/40 x 17 on an 8 inch rim? A 10 inch rim is needed for a tire this wide.

 

I went with these for a meatier look on the back. Front 215-55-17; rear 235-60-17 Coopers.
