What Tools to Use?

I've been working on repairing my windshield channel and I have a 7" adjustable speed grinder, welder, and I had access to a 4.5" pistol grip air sander but my air compressor managed to break the day after I got it.

I'm not sure what tools to use or to get to fix the holes in my channel without destroying the metal. I've been trying to use the welder and then grind it flat with a 7" flap disc (sandpaper wheel) but it's ridiculously hard to grind it on a 1.5" surface with a 7" disc. Also the wheel won't fit into the corners either which is where I actually have the most work.

I also need to cut out part of one side of the channel but a 7" cutoff wheel or actually 4.5" cutoff wheel for the matter can't maneuver through where I need to cut the metal.

What do you guys suggest for cutting and grinding/smoothing in tight spaces?

I use a right-angle die grinder (pneumatic) with the 2" roloc disks. Depending on the situation, I will use either 40 or 80 grit to grind down those welds.

I use a Dremel with a flexible shaft and EZ Lock cut-off wheels. One of the best "tools" I've ever bought!
