I need to swap the lower grill stainless on the 70 GS. But I cant remember how the J moldings come off. Whats the trick? Do I need to remove the painted panel under the grille?

    Thanks

Yes, remove painted filler piece....then remove the screw under it for the J piece along with the one
    on the top.

Thanks George! I thought there was another screw. :Dou: Now in order to remove the filler I have to drop the bumper down. Jeez, nothing is easy

Thanks Dave! I tackled it today after work. I droppd the bumper, removed the filler and accessed the hidden J molding screws. While everything was apart, I hand polished all the stainless with some Mothers, polished and waxed the painted areas then reassembled. I replaced a few incorrect screws and adjusted up the bumper. My bumper has the slightest bend on the drivers side end. It bows out. I think I got the bumper a little better than it was. I finished up by polishing and waxing the bumper (even under the license plate). Looked much better. The bumper adjustment was the most time consuming. Its not perfect but its only a driver

All that for one little piece of trim! oh, and I removed my stripped gas tank strap bolt and incorrect Z bar hardware with the parts you gave me.:beers2: Thanks dude!

Speaking of Z bars Dave, (I can hijack my own thread right?) Is your Z bar is crooked?
