I've asked this before and lost the thread and forget the info! Sorry in advance. I have a 68 GS that is stock. I'd like to fit a bigger tire/wheel in the rear but I am unsure how big I can go without modifications. Any suggestions/thoughts? Thanks!

What Rim will you be using or is that also part of the purchase plan ?

    I'm running 275/40 R18 tire (9.5 rim) now on my 68
one finger worth of clearance on drivers side and little less on passengers side (gotta roll car forward to wash top of tire)
I do not have the exact rim BS right now but I'm pretty sure it is more in the 5.75 - 6" range.

Alan, could you post your rear tire/rim size and BS on BigRed?
I'm in need of new rims and drag radials for a different size rim other than my eighteens.

BigRed is on 8" Buick Mags with 5.125" BS running 275/60/15 Street meats and 275/50/15 DR's

Thanks for the feedback guys. After some thought and looking at other things I'd like to do, I've decided to ditch the 14x6 rally's on my car now for a set of 15x7 Buick rally's that I've located. It'll give me a little bigger wheel and tire which is what I want. In a perfect world I'd throw in some redline tires but we shall see

My son (he's nine) spotted redlines mounted on Magnum 500s at Coker Tire when we were there last fall, now he wants me to put them on my car. I'm not sure how they'd look on a blue and white car (patriotic, muscular, or just goofy) but for the price I'm not going to find out.

FYI -- the '70 GSX and GS with optional tires wore G60/15s, which is equal to 245/60/15 now. 235 or 245/60/15 is what most of the cars are running now (at least the folks who keep all four the same).

Thanks for the input. I think the red lines would look good with the dark blue paint, but their price, probably not in the budget. Oh well, RWL look good too! I was just looking into the tire size, I like the input. Wasn't sure if 245/60/15 would fit up under my 68 or not.

Beautiful car! So those are 245's? I love that color!

Yes, 245's all around, thanks for the compliment however I sold it last year, - for a dance, great cars, but 68's don't get much respect.

No they don't. It would be nice to have a 455 car but for now my 68 will do. Some minor things to dress it up. I bought it last year. It was an older restoration. Very solid car but definitely not perfect. I enjoy it though!

I have a 69 GS and a custom 15 x 8 Buick rim with 275 60 15 BFG on the back I think my backspace was 4.75" its tighter on one side than the other and the fender well is stock and not rolled. Also you need to have the car fully jacked up to install or remove the tire.
