I did not want to hijack the 175000 stage 1 convertible wanted thread but need to know something... Lime Mist, Bittersweet Mist, Cortez Gold and Stratomist Blue are 4 of the most popular colors for GS cars (and Skylarks) from 1971 production-wise. I have personally owned over 16 1971 Buick GS cars and 10 Skylarks from parts car to driver and out of those 26 cars 5 were Cortez Gold, 1 was bittersweet mist and 1 was stratomist blue. 0 were Lime Mist. The rest were other shades of green, beige or mostly brown.(can you believe 8 out of 26 were burnished cinnamon?) Statistically speaking my experience does not match up with what one would predict save for the Cortez Gold cars. My guess is that certain colors maybe sold more in certain areas of the country? My bittersweet mist car came out of Portland OR originally and have seen several others on the west coast. I have also found a large number of Lime Mist cars on the east coast. Where are the Lime Mist cars? I want a beater 1971 GS coupe in Lime Mist to save. There are none here! Every time I go look at a project car, guess what? Burnished Cinnamon with a Sandalwood interior. Sandpiper Beige with a Saddle interior. Willowmist Green with a Sandalwood interior. Bleah. OK, enough rambling. Back to work.
For what it's worth (nothing probably) I'll keep my eyes open and let you know if I see something. I've never looked for a limemist car, one just seemed to fall onto me accidental like. Also the bittersweet mist car. If I was looking for them probably wouldn't have found them. Stratomist blue, black interior and white top is my favorite color combo but I don't expect to ever own one. Just how life is when you can't order them anymore
Yeah, life is funny. I looked for 3 years before I found a solid bittersweet mist car with no vinyl top. I love the stratomist blue cars too. The only original stratomist car I had was a Sportwagon, although one of the Burnished Cinnamon cars was actually painted stratomist blue because the owner just couldn't get into the brown. I don't really need one but would certainly buy a Lime Mist project car if one came along at a good price. I also am thinking the Lime Mist Convertible in the brochure helped sell a bunch of the Lime Ones, too. Thanks for keeping an eye out!

In Connecticut there are two Limemist GSX's within 20 miles of each other. There's also one in New Jersey (1971GSX on this board). I'm thinking there may be another in NJ, but my memory is fuzzy.
Almost bought a 71 Stage 1 Lime Mist car in 1994 in Woodstock GA from Bill Milsaps. $6500 but had some rust issues. Car was sold to a buyer in NY- anyone here?
Lime Mist 71 GS 350 project car :Brow: Chris, You have to be careful what you wish for ! I may have just the perfect car for you, a real Lime Mist 71. It's definately what you would consider a project car, but really should be saved. I've been hesitating on cutting it up to donate it's excellent outer wheelhousings, along with many other pieces. I found a build sheet in it when the interior was taken out, and I'm not positive but think it has it's original engine and T-350. Tim
I have a 1971 stage 1 lime mist car. it has a pearl interior and a white vinyl top. it looks great with those red badges and red on the rocker molding trim. john
The red stripe rockers moldings look great with the Lime Mist paint. I really like the brightness of the green. Just like the brightness of the stratomist blue and cortez gold. They are bright enough to be noticed but not so bright to be mopar colors. (no offense to Mopar guys, I used to own a challenger myself!)
I think "Lemon Twist" was a good color for those sorry Mopars because it represented their build quality so well. And besides they had to have something (hight impact colors) to get some attention after a GS showed them it's tail lights ! :laugh: Tim
That's right,Ken. There was also a limemist 71 GS 455 convertible that I saw at the Dairy Queen in Monroe. :eek2: Have you seen it? So,since that car is around,that makes it 3 limemist cars in this area.
71 GS455 convertible, TH400 on column code 43 Lime Mist paint code G dark green convertible top Trim 150 dark green split bench seat medium green carpet Sport mirrors Added Green Rallye steering wheel (It had that double-butt-ugly steering wheel that is the 'above the base trim' steering wheel.) Also, my 72 Skylark was 72 code 43, but I stripped and repainted it with single stage urethane code 43 for 71. Can't have too much of a good thing.
How funny...I hadn't noticed the OP date. A friend bought a Lime Mist '71 455 w/black vinyl top & black buckets/console out of Northern VA in I'd say the mid 80's and we took it to BG in '87 IIRC. There was a Lime Mist car there that year with a darker green D99 painted top - that was a neat combo. I don't ever recall seeing a solid color Lime Mist car.
Very old thread. I still love the Lime Mist cars! 2 Lime GS convertibles! Pretty cool cars, gentlemen! Someday I will add one to the stable...
Lime Mist is a great high impact color only offered in 1971. I remember during the early mid 90's at the GS Nats a guy had a real Lime Mist, non Stage 455, 71 GSX with white interior, a real knockout, home run, color combo. Pontiac called the same color, Tropical Lime for 71 GTO's and 71 GTO Judge's.
Tom, that's a very sharp GTO. Most of the GTO/Judges around here were Carousel Red. Really like the green better, but I Mist out on ever owning a car with it.
