We watched all we could stand of the CMA award show, trying to figure out how they can all it country music. It sure don't sound like the country music I'm used to. I noticed when they showed the people in the audience, that they didn't seem to impressed either. Bob H.
Ever since they combined country AND western its gone down the pipe. "My girlfriend left me for that no good truck driver runnin' texas race cars out to the coast and enjoying a warm, yesterdays BUD, thats been sittin' in the sun while I go to work at the refinery, dreamin' 'bout all the cold PBRs we used to slam..." Poor ol' George Jones is spinnin' in his grave today! ws
I watched off and on; I really liked the Burt Reynolds tribute by Midland... https://www.rollingstone.com/music/...tbound-and-down-cma-awards-jerry-reed-756245/ Patrick
I don’t care for new country either but I did see Ricky Skaggs and also Midland did a cover of Eastbound and Down and both were really good.
Things change. We are all getting old. https://www.theodysseyonline.com/country-music-change-tune Never thought this could be considered country music. Which reminds me of the joke, Q: What do you get when you play country music backwards? A: You get back your wife, your dog and your truck.

Gotta agree with Bob I'm not a country big fan more rock myself but I watched like a hour of the awards show I kinda thought the same Not really country music anymore And for the most part didn't know the players
Ugh -- country rap. Honest to god, I was in the wife's car maybe 2 days back and, as much as she ALWAYS listens to country, for some reason she must have been listening to some lame rap station. I got ready to change to alt rock and I'll be damned, that rap stuff was actually playing on a country station. Yeesh. I have told her plenty of times, it aint country anymore, its remedial rock with a cowboy hat. My dad and I listen to Willie's Roadhouse, which does play some bad old stuff (Ernest Tubb gets a little tiring), but we like the 60s to 90s country and get a kick out of the stuff from the 30's. She can't stand any of it.
True country music died years ago. When they started adding drums and brass instruments, it became rock and roll with fringe. JMO.
